Ordinary MRI and Contrast?

hi can anyone tell me the difference between an ordinary MRI and a contrast? I am having one done Monday and it says in the letter with contrast BOTH does this mean both breasts will be done?

Gadolinium is the contrast dye used in Breast MRIs. It's a heavy metal and it's a bummer that we have to go through these . All of these contrast dyes have potential negative effects on kidneys

My kidney tests came out very low with lab work done a week after the MRI contrast and Pet scans. Fortunately they went back to normal with the next lab work. But that was scary.

Make sure you drink a lot of water after the scan. It makes clearing the contrast easier on your kidneys. The contrast is necessary when they do an MRI because the way it moves through the tissue can give them clues about whether the area is probably benign or needs to be checked out with a biopsy to make sure that there's nothing more serious.
