Hi Sisiters from around the world. I am 9 days out from my tram flap breast reconstruction surgery and was wondering if anyone has any good advice, tips and tricks to help with the recovery process. especially sleeping has been a bit difficult. I was also wondering if you sisters out there have has successfully/unsuccessful tram flaps and what were the complications. Would love to hear good stories and some handy hints post surgery

Emma, How are you doing? I understand the recovery can be difficult, and I hope you are doing well. I did not have this recon, so I cannot weigh in with any tips or advice, but hopefully others will soon. How are you feeling? Sending you a super gentle hug.

    Hi Emma

Head on over to the DIEP 2015 thread. I know it says diep but many of us, myself included, actually had modified diep or muscle sparing TRAM flap/s etc and it includes any flaps using abdominal tissue.

Either way, the recovery is fairly similar but varies for each individual obviously. See you over there .....

Hi Meadow. I am feeling ok apart for a set back today with a migraine. I do find it hard to find a comfortable position to sleep in though even with a dozen pillows around me. Hopefully at the week 3 mark things should get better.

May I ask if you have had any type of reconstruction??

Yes I had a one step procedure where I had the mastectomy, and implants put in at the same time. I knew I would have to have rads, and my plastic surgeon warned that there would be encapsulations on the radiated side. He was right. He strongly recommended the tram, but I chose the one step procedure.
