Hi Ladies,

I'm currently in chemotherapy but will be starting ovarian suppression relatively soon for the next 5 years. Is anyone in their 20s and 30s going through it? If so, what are/were your side effects? I think this is the portion of treatment that makes me the most nervous...

    Hi-

I'm 44 and started OS about three weeks ago.  I'm not having any SEs other than what chemopause had started already.  Hot flashes and night sweats.  And those actually seem to be getting better, not worse.  They were pretty bad for quite a while.  I don't know about these warm flushes women talk about - mine are HOT!!  But certainly tolerable.  I'll proably just get my ovaries taken out rather than having to go to office for shot every 28 days.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hi there

I started the injections last week and I'm on the one that lasts for three months.i have found increased night sweats but not too many hot flushes during the day. In general my nights are more disrupted with feeling hot then cold and more wakings. Overall I'm still trying to walk every day and have had a very vm busy few weeks with our family and two small kids but I'm feeling exhausted and old!! (I'm only 33) and just very tired and sluggish. My oncc mentioned it would make me tired and I haven't even started Aromasin yet. I will start that after rads. I'm also curious to hear how others are finding this combo Hormonal treatment

    Hi kjybaby,

I am 27 and have been on ovarian suppression shots for about 2 months now and the hot flashes are the worst part. Since my diagnosis has +ER/PR+ majority of the supplements out there both allopathic and natural have some connection to estrogen and I cannot take them.. :( I have been very frustrated with the lack of options for this side effect and was basically told to grin and bare it..

I have also noticed an overall increase in my body temperature which is both nice and difficult to deal with. Normally I am freezing all of the time, so going into winter with an increased body temperature is nice. However, running warm has severely affected my sleep and it is difficult to find a happy medium between being hot and cold all night. I went from having 7 blankets and 2 of them are comforters to a sheet with two small blankets.. I am still continuing to research and see what my options are. I have recently started acupuncture and that has helped a little bit with symptoms.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I began "menopause" during chemotherapy, so ovarian suppression keeps me in menopause.

I would wake up drenching the bed every night, and the hot flashes were god awful. I began Effexor, an SNRI antidepressant, and it has improved my symptoms 90%. It is actually often given to post menopausal women.

I'm on ovarian suppression. I get a lupron injection every three months.ive had 2 injections. I have very mild occasional night sweats and that's about it. I love not having my period. It's the only good physical thing to come out of this whole mess.
