hi ladies,

Just wondering if any of you out there have been recommended by your oncologist to take Zometa infustions? or are you doing them already? and are you having side effects? My onc wants me to take it as she says it can prevent further breast cancer spreading to the bones. Ive heard from other women it has bad siade effects like the flu for a couple of days after the infusion and you have to do blood work done for it ,etc. Just was wondering what others were doing with this drug? I hate to do one more thing to my body....ugh.Im only stage 1 but my grade was 3 . I only had to do chemo and will soon start the oral medicine. any info welcome....THanks!Smile

Hello Mircann, I am taking zometa infusion every three months. I have stageIV, mets to bones. I have heard from other ladies that the se's subside after the first couple of infusions. I have had the infusion only once so far. I was ill for three days. Fever, vomiting, shakiness and some bone pain. I consider it well worth the side effects, to keep my bones strong though. I have read many success stories on it. I want to be here for the long haul. Still have kids at home. Wishing you all the best! Chelle.
