Just so sick of it all!!
today has been terrible. I was getting ready for routine follow up with BS this morning when I started experiencing chest pain. It was horrid, went on for a good half hour. I went to BS office and she sent me ro ER. xrays, blood work show ever thing is normal, but blood pressure is elevated. In the middle of all this I get a call from MO that liver enzyme is high, wants to know if I'd lake to wait a month and retest or have scan. WTF nurse says it's up to me???
ER doc says follow up with cardiac doc in 72 hrs. I'm also supposed to see in gyno for consult on oopherectomy next week, and see PCP about hip bursitis and degenerative discs found on MRI last week.
I'm seriously ready to snap yall. Can't keep doing this shit. Just cant.

I wish I had some words of wisdom but I feel the same way that you do. I have had chest pains recently too but luckily they have subsided now. I hope things get better for you.
-
thanks musiclover, I just needed to vent. I'm not sure when this ever gets easier, I don't know that it does. Upon my dh's urging I told MO I'd do scan. She was still flip flopping on whether I should or just wait to redo labs. I'm gonna try to take that as a good sign.
Hope you are doing better with the chest pains. ((Hugs))

ah Tang I feel ya. My PCP is convinced I'm sliding into congestive heart failure. Thanks adriamycin. Will see cardio next month, prolly a gastro too. Yippee?

YES! I need to vent too. Even 9 years out it's just been one thing after another lately. Yes, I've had the heart pain (EKG a few weeks ago showed nothing!?) and the latest wrinkle is a mysterious ache in my lower left side which is causing my IBS to flare up. Have finally given in to scheduling my first colonoscopy which I've been avoiding like the plague. And next month I have to switch from Arimidex to Tamoxifen as my bone density has tanked.
As I approach my 60th birthday, I doggedly remind myself to consider the alternative...
Best to all my sisters - Julie

Hi, If it helps, after a pet scan, 2 CT scans, an MRI, Ultrasound and Mammos, my blood work went wild. I also started the Femara at the same times. My kidney labs, liver labs, ALP were all off - they just shot up. My MO let me have another test two weeks later and everything was back to normal. Phew! I was really scared about my kidneys - the EGFR I think. I also had a nurse tell me it was up to me when I found an additional lump. Up to me?? I told her check with the doctor, because if it's patient request the insurance might not cover. Who needs an MO that flip flops? I sure don't.
-
I don't understand the "it's up to you" thing at all. I was told that that when deciding on surgery options, I even at one point was told that about chemo options. Uggggg
That's crazy on the lump thing, seriously.
I just wanted to run away yesterday, but where would I go? Lol. Today is a new day so here's to new mercies and grace.

Something my onc said to me years ago has helped me put it into perspective every day. "A cancer diagnosis is not a sprint, it is a marathon". Boy, did he have that right.
But, venting helps a lot, too!
-
I agree. It's a marathon. That's a good insight. Venting with those of us in the same boat is helpful too. We get it. Referencing back to previous posts, I think that's why books and articles from celebrities soon after their diagnosis are very aggravating. It takes a while living on the razors edge to understand why beast cancer is so difficult.

The marathon is a good analogy.....
So, I've been scheduled for a CT with Contrast this Saturday. I'm officially freaking out. I'm somewhere between "this is foolish and an overreaction to mildly elevated scans" and " holy chit what if".

Oh goodness...I remember about 2 years out dealing with several scares!! My chest pains were swelling in the sack ( know there must be a medical term, but I don't know it) around my heart from radiation and muscles when I use my arm a certain way ( all this on my left BS side)! Also had blood work scare....then it corrected itself!! It is exhausting and all so scary...praying this all passes and you can get on with the Holidays!!!
-
I'm really starting to lean toward just waiting another month to see if the blood work straightens out. It might be less stressful than going thru another flipping scan and all the fear and anxiety attached to that. Since MO said it was up to me, it must not be THAT much of an issue.

Believe in the power of positive thinking. Erase all negative thoughts and expect good results. God never gives us more than we can deal with. My attitude has always been ok, I'll deal with it and everything will be fine. Now 6 years later, it is and I'm cancer free. If you go into anything expecting a problem, you'll usually have one.
My stage 3 breast cancer was located on right side only, however, number of lymph nodes involved was unknown. Surgeon removed all of them and testing showed cancer was present in all but 3. My instructions to the surgeon "get rid of the cancer - I don't want it".
