Lower back pain
My first infusion of ac was last Tuesday and my nulastin shot was last Wednesday. Today, nearly a week later, I started having really intense lower back pain. The kind that takes your breath away. It's very low, like where your butt meets your back (sorry for the lack of lady like words to describe). Is this normal? Icalled the dr and they said that the nulastin effects could e felt for 7-10 days after, but it feels more like nerve pain and it's onset was a week after the shot.

Yes, it's normal. The chemo gives you muscle aches, like the flu, and the neulasta gives you bone pain that feels like a bad "toothache" in the bones. It comes and goes for about 10 days after the shot.
Has anyone told you about taking Claritin a few days before the neulasta and a couple of weeks after? It TRULY helps with the bone pain. Ask your MO about it if no one's brought it up yet. It will make you much more comfortable.

After my first chemo I had this tremendous back pain on Day6. OMG, it was exactly like back labor! I could sit, stand or lie down. I am not a cry-baby, AT ALL, but I was in tears with this pain. Lucky for me (or unlucky, maybe) I was in the hospital with an infection at the time, so they were able to get me some Percocet pretty quickly. Even with the narcotic, I'd say the pain only dropped from an 8 out of 10 to a 5 out of 10. Only after they added some Ativan was I able to get some relief.
At the moment I am having some kind of back pain. It starts at my bra strap and ends below my waist. I can't figure out if it's the ribs that hurt or if it's muscle pain. I took a Mobic and some Tylenol earlier this afternoon but it isn't helping much with the back. I put a heating pad on the back and that helped some. I will have to say, the pain in my knees is a lot better tonight!

I had my first neulasta recently and I thought I was prepared for the pain but I was mistaken. I forgot to take claritin on day 6 and was about through the roof at 3am with terrible back and hip pain. On a thread I posted the other day someone suggested aleve for the pain since narcotics barely touched it. The aleve totally worked and I will NEVER forget the claritin again!

I will be starting chemo Wednesday and will have the Neulasta the following day. Please tell me about the Claritin???? TIA!

Claritin helps reduce bone pain brought on by the Neulasta, for reasons not fully understood. You need start it the day before and take it for 6-7 days following.
