I'm only 2 weeks in, and I have been nauseas, but I think it's a combo of early morning rads, low blood sugar, and actual treatment as well as residual chemo nasty.

yep, me. It started after my first session. They thought I was crazy (well they didn't say that but you can always tell lol) but they gave me Ativan. It worked great until late last week when it stopped. I increased my dose and it seems to be working again. Thank goodness. I only have three rads left to get through.

Yes! I have nausea since finishing up Radiation Therapy last week. I was told that wouldn't happen? Maybe the horrible Chemo side effects are coming back, finished that round in June. And, Woods my acid reflux is worse since surgery, chemo and now Radiation, will all this ever go away???

my thought on this is, it isn't that the radiation is causing nausea as much as maybe when our immune response is kicked in one of the side effects is nausea. I know I get nauseous easily so I'm not surprised I'm getting it. It has finally decreased a lot today (it usually does over the weekend but that double dose of rads I did on Friday really made it worse than normal). I have three left, please let me get through them!

Ativan (lorazepam) works really well for nausea.

    Hi CAMommy

My wish is that you get through the next three better than the others! Maybe it is the immune system causing the nausea. Eat something to boost the immune system, What food could that be? Google it. :-) Of course all food tastes terrible to me, oh well, but good luck to you.

I just finished my first week of Radiation with 4 1/2 more to go, and I too have also been experiencing nausea. Nothing compared to chemo or post surgery, but my stomach definitely feels uneasy.

to me it feels like early pregnancy morning sickness, nothing sounds good, smells make it worse but if I don't eat I feel even more queasy. But eating makes me queasy. It's like a low grade constant sea sickness feeling

Oh, we are so sorry for what you are going through in terms of nausea. It is a terrible feeling, and worth discussing with your treatment team, if you haven't already.

Here are some tips (scroll down on the page) for managing nausea: Nausea

    We are thinking of you.

yes - beginning second week. My RO says it's not due to treatment but I generally have a cast iron stomach so have my doubts..

I have nausea and acid reflux too. Last two mornings I vomited before going for my treatment. Techs and nurse both asked "why is that?" Oh well..

My RO told me up front that I might experience some nausea. When the radiation beam hits any part of the GI system (and sometimes it might) it can cause nausea. I had a few queasy hours but nothing too bad.

interesting that we hear different things from the ROs. Mine said only rads to stomach cause nausea so couldn't be the cause with me. Also mine is coming a few hours after treatment. Ah well, could be worse. Time up stock up on ginger ale

Me too! I started a little seasick. Only wanted chocolate or pie and now I am dry heaving. 19 out of 25. I did speak to my Rad Onc Nurse and she gave me the "absolutely not a side effect" combined with the crazy lady stare. It is getting worse and again I will be "that paitient" that needs to insist. Getting a little sick of hearing "everyone reacts differently" and then of course.. "no"

2 nurses convinced that I could not have nausea...My doctor said yes you probably have nausea. We did not mention it in case you did not. She put me on zofran and insisted I use prilosec because the radiation is probably grazing my esophagus and causing this. Instantly felt better! The nurses got it wrong because in this fast paced AMAZING world of cancer treatment my radiation is multibeam so it grazes more of me with less heart problems.. Talk to the DOC!!

I finish my radiation one week ago today. About week 3 I lost my desire for food. I get nauseous when I start thinking about what to make for meals and while I am cooking it. I can eat but I am not enjoining anything. Not even my favorite foods. I am also very tired and feel like I am in a brain fog. I am forgetful. I just started aromatase last Monday but this issue existed before I started the medication. I keep wondering how long this feeling will last. Thoughts

I also have had bad nausea and food aversions. I like the person who said mildly seasick all the time. That's a perfect description. Rads Says it's not rads. MO said might be rare herceptin side effect. I started taking my prilosec again and it's helped a ton. Now the fatigue. Bone crushing fatigue...

Maybe I should try some pepcid. I took two ibuprofen before rads because of dizziness. That really helped. Nothing seems to help the fatigue not even sleep or exercise.

Definitely nausea. Been getting worse each time, and worst of all today. Thank goodness I only had 5 treatments. I've also been having fatigue. If there is a side effects that most do not have, I will have it. Just took some compazine and I'm going back to bed. These boards continue to be the best source of information on this stuff. Thank you everyone for being there.

Oh yes, there is no question: I've definitely had nausea from the radiation. Don't believe anyone who tells you it's impossible. I was lucky that it didn't start till I was well into the treatments, and it went away on the weekends. (That's the main way I was sure it was from the radiation...it would clear up with that break.) I've been just trying to ignore it and go about my business, largely successfully. Today (first day of the boost) it started right after treatment, along with major fatigue, so I'm not looking forward to the next week and a half.

Up till today, radiation seemed to make me extra hungry—I figured from my body trying to replace all those cells—but today I've had no appetite. Still, I did eat, the food tasted okay even if I didn't really want it, and I'm not nauseated enough to throw up. So I guess on the whole, I'm lucky.

If the nausea gets worse, I'm going to take the suggestions of the others who've commented and ask for Ativan or something like it. Thanks all!
