hi ladies, 4 yrs ago, i found a very hard solid lump under my bra line in my left breast, not painful but since its in my bra line, doctor decided to have it surgically removed, though he assured me its only a cyst, so after it was removed, no more further testing done. This year , my left breast again is in severe pain, until my chest wall and back, i tried to ignore but the pain doesnt go away so i decided to see a doctor which then referred me to do breast sonography, went to do it and radiologist saw more than one lump in my left breast. And then assured me again that its only cyst. I went to have second opinion but the new doctor just read the report from the previous sonography and told me its a cyst and forget about it. I just want to know how can i be assured its only a cyst? Lately im feeling so tired and no energy and always catching my breath even walking short distance. Cant also stand for too long as my legs are in pain. Thank u ladies

Cysts are very clearly identifiable on imaging. Of course you can request a second opinion on your imaging.

As far as your other symptoms, most women with breast cancer, even advanced cancer, have no symptoms whatsoever

When I had a sebaceous cyst removed because it got infected, the surgeon said that even though she's sure it's a cyst, they send everything to pathology just to make sure. I got a pathology report on it that confirmed it was a sebaceous cyst and "no malignancy detected." But I had been treated for breast cancer the year before, so maybe that was another reason they wanted to get it analyzed.

I have had many cysts aspirated with ultrasound guidance - they send the aspirated fluid to the lab for analysis.  Ask if you can have this done, if the wondering is bothering you.  If you have this procedure I recommend that they withdraw all the fluid possible (the benefit of viewing it on ultrasound while aspirating) in order to collapse the cyst walls so they stick together - they are less likely to refill that way, and so the cyst - and its attendant discomfort - is usually resolved.
