Scar tissue or recurrence?

Options

Hi Ladies! Wondering if anyone has experienced this. I had breast cancer in 2008. My breast has been painful since my lumpectomy. I have lymphedema and lots of scar tissue. This is my question. Can scar tissue be found above the lumpectomy scar and can it feel like a hard lump? I feel like my breast is still going through changes and just recently I noticed a hard lump or thickening above my scar line. I guess it has been there for a while, but seems different maybe? I am so scared that this is a breast cancer recurrence. I would be interested in hearing comments from those of you who know anything about scar tissue. I can't find much online about it. Thanks!

Debbie

Hi, I don't think I can help you with that, maybe someone will come along who can, but it better not be anything!! Thinking of you and wishing the best for you. I am pretty sure I have something going on in my scar, too, besides what they call fat necrosis. They haven't biopsied said dead fat yet, tho. Are you still being followed up on?

I'm going to the dr on Tuesday! Praying I hear fat necrosis but worried it will be something else! Trying to stay positive

I had a recurrence and my new lump felt just like a frozen pea. They told me it felt like scar tissue and I insisted on a biopsy. I am glad I did since it was a recurrence. I hope yours is scar tissue. Keep us posted. Sorry you are dealing with this

Hi kd.... Same here. I found a small pea-size lump, they thought scar tissue or debris from 2010 surgery. Did not show on mammo, did not aspirate, but core biopsy came back IDC. I just found out on Friday. I hope and pray yours is nothing at all. I think most turn out to be nothing but best to be sure. Definitely get it checked!
