hi everyone,

I just want to pose the question about moving from AC to Taxol. I am halfway through AC and will move to 4 Taxol treatments, once every 2 weeks starting in December. What is all of your experiences with it, changes of side effects, fatigue, etc?

I just finished my 4 rounds of Chemo and start Taxol next monday. Nurses said it's easier than a/c. Side effects mostly are bone and joint pain. I"m sure i'll get this as I'm loaded with osteoarthritis. Will let you know how it goes.

Hi! I'm on #8 of 12 taxol tomorrow! Just wanted to share that the SEs are different from AC for me - no nausea and constipation being the best changes for me.

All my hair fell out from AC, and I started growing some hair up north and down south from my first taxol onwards, just thought you'd want to take note of that. Other SEs that I've experienced included neuropathy (whoa the numbness and tingling is real), fatigue (I sleep 14 hrs a day and still am exhausted), bone pain (it can be very frustrating to be hurting on top of being fatigued) and weight gain (I've gained 5kgs since July!!!). I've seen other sisters mention nail changes and low platelet count too.

There's a weekly taxol thread here, feel free to join us!

    thanks ladies

I am encouraged about the hair regrowth on taxol - fingers crossed!

So why are some people on weekly taxol and i plan to be on every other week? Does anyone know?

Naturluvr keep me posted on the bone pain.

    Thanks

kimmer - Taxol can be given either weekly or dose dense.  If you get it every other week you should get a larger dose each infusion, but have fewer infusions.  It usually comes down to what your MO prefers, some get 4 dose dense Taxol, some 8 weekly, and some 12 weekly.
