I know this is highly stressful! This all started with me Oct 12 with my 1st mammo, phone call next day to come back. Saw micricalcifications. Biopsy that Friday then the waiting period for results. Last Wed diagnosed. All this time I am sick to my stomach with nausea & was hardly eating. Now into 3rd week since this started & weight is down. I am eating better. Today seeing Oncologist & Genetic Counselor, tomorrow BS. My nerves are shot! I am actually nervous for these appointments.

Just wondering if the weight loss is normal like this or should I be worried something else going on?

Good morning Jersey! At this point, I would think your weight loss is due to stress. You have to admit...this is about as stressful a situation as you'll probably ever have to endure. I was the same way until I actually had my surgery and then met with the oncologist. Both my surgeon and my oncologist have been wonderful at putting my fears behind me somewhat. If it wasn't for Dr. Auda, Dr. Goldklang and all their nurses, I'd be a basketcase! I would tell you not to worry so much, but we both know that's not going to happen! You'll probably feel better once you've met with your actual doctors/oncologist and have a plan going forward. I believe it also helps to get some of your fears and feelings out on discussion boards like this, that you can actually talk to people who are going through the same processes as you. No matter how much you talk to family and friends, if they haven't gone through your same situation, they really have no clue! You'll be fine, just take it day to day. Exercise some of your stress out, keep a journal, be sure to eat well! Good luck!

Thank you! I know my paranoia is very high! I fear other cancers & that causing weight loss. I dont know my family history. So that isnt helping. I assume they will do the gene test.

These boards truly have helped me!!!!!

I lost a lot of weight when I was first diagnosed due to stress. I think many of us went through that. Hang in there!
