I am new to the community. I've had breast cancer diagnosis in Feb 2013. I have completed surgery, chemo, and radiation. Now on hormone therapy. I've had a continuous slew of new health issues since finishing treatments. I have developed horrific reflux disease that causes me horrible stomach pain, constant indigestion and bloating as well as esophageal rings that causes throat spasms.I sometimes choke on food, can no longer sing in church. I'ts not painful but uncomfortable. (the spasms) I have horrible joint pain daily. Some days I can barely function. My latest diagnosis was that my eyes are beginning to cross! Have any of you ever heard of such a thing happening after treatment? I have daily headaches. And the latest thing Im finding is that I wake up with my hands knarled up and in horrible pain every morning. It takes me a good few minutes to stretch them out and to be able to move them. It was suggested to me that I may want to see a neurologist? I am horribly depressed. In pain every day. Mentally, emotionally, and spiritually I am completely drained. No one understands what I'm going through or seems to really care for that matter. I have little to no support system. Finding people who can resonate with me via this group, I feel, is my last hope. Because I sure do feel hopeless. Thanks for listening.

    Mrsm103-

We are so glad you've found this community! One thing you'll notice right away is that you are FAR from alone. This community will help you and support you and walk with you through this! We are sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time; we second the suggestion that you see a neurologist, just to be proactive. Have you discussed these symptoms with the doctor overseeing your hormone treatment? We hope that you're able to find some relief or answers soon. In the meantime, please lean on the community here, and let us know if we can be of any assistance!

mrsm103, welcome. Yes, there are many of us here who completely understand that there is no little to no help and understanding in the medical profession about many of the problems left from treatment for us. I am glad you found BCO, and I will tell you, these women saved my life and my sanity, when the docs could not/ would not believe me. And then I found many of the women here have many of my problems and symptoms, plus other kinds too. I hope you stay and familiarize yourself with how bco works, and that it is helpful to you. Sorry about it all for you.

I have had the issue with my hands that you describe I think that it is caused by the hormone therapy, it eventually got better but it took a long while. I don't think that I have heard of anyone with an eye crossing problem but that may be caused from the chemo along with the headaches, neuropathy? I think that I have heard of the stomach/esophageal problems and that they maybe caused by the radiation. It is my belief that the medical community feel that they have helped save your life and that there are some consequences to that, like your issues, and they don't want to admit that the treatment caused these problems. It is very sad in my opinion that they are not more forthcoming. I hope that things get better for you.

    mrsmM-

I'm so sorry you are feeling so alone and desperate ((hugs))

Many of us here can relate to those feelings and the struggle post treatment to get on with life. The pains, the fears, the thoughts....we understand. Have you been able to talk to your doctor about any of these issues? The side effects from hormonal treatment might be adding to the joint pain you are dealing with.

Just know that you are not alone and this forum has a lot of help, hope and love. I'm not sure what your faith is, but remember that God is close to the brokenhearted.

take care and come back okay!

    Hello Mrs M

You may find that things begin to improve a little from now on. I'm 18 months ahead of you and had some of your symptoms such as the hands curling up. I also got cramp, fatigue, join pain as well as lumps in the eye and on the knee - but I am not on hormone treatment like you. Is there a possibility that you might be a bit dehydrated? When I ate a bit more and drank fluids a bit more, things seemed to improve. About 18 months after finishing an 18-month treatment programme, I turned a corner...It might be the same for you.

In the meantime, you can always get checked out by the docs but you might be pleasantly surprised. As the fabulous Chrissy B says, sometimes it's not always cancer.

By the way, my friend had breast cancer at the same stage as you with practically the same stats. Nine years down the line, she's doing fine.

I hope for the same for you

    Alice
