I am 63 years old been having yearly Mammograms for thirty years due to family hx . Yesterday was the first time I was told that I have dense breasts. I'm twenty plus years post menopause .

I am wondering if breast density is a significant independent risk factor and why that may be ? TI

Ddw---some articles say dense breast tissue itself is more prone to bc (I really don't know if this is proven or not, I don't think so ), but having dense breast tissue definitely makes it harder to detect bc upon mammos, that's why MRI is better if your density is very high. (did they give you a % of density?)

no good point and I didn't think to ask. Will talk to MO about it next week. They are obviously finding bad stuff in the 3D
