Exercise and well being during chemo and radiation

Oh yum. Are fried green tomatoes on your agenda?
6 mile jog today, mobility stretches. For some stupid reason gave in to a craving for chocolate pinwheel cookies and potato chips tonight. Had 3 cookies, feel yucky now. But at least the craving g is gone! I've been wanting them for weeks lol.
-
you did the right thing. You'll remember that dinner a long time. I'm going to forget right now you ever mentioned that lb.
-
Today was another nice sunny day here. I rode my bike about 33km, drank 100oz fluids, ate 100g protein and 10 servings fruits/veggies, and had my 12th of 16 radiation treatments. 3/4 of the way done with rads ~ yay! And I'm going home for the weekend after my treatment tomorrow.
-
25.3 mile bike ride, 1100 feet of climbing, after Herceptin infusion this morning. It wasn't pretty, but I did it. Really windy
-
4 mile walk jog. Walk because my night vision isn't so good! Abs and stretchies.
-
8700 steps all through house cleaning and some hefty yard work. I haven't weighed myself in quite some time but my old pants are fitting and I wore a dress last weekend that I haven't worn in forever. yay!
-
9.71 miles, part walking, part treadmill. I will do basic stretches before bed. Legs and hips a bit achy from Tamoxifen.
Oh--
--shared with a colleague. Those are fried green tomatoes in the upper right. They were good, but I make them better!
-
Yowzer- great food porn Ks!
And great work Jen, E, T, and Ks!
-
My Fitbit just sent me an email saying that I've walked 500 miles since 8/2. Of course, some of that is dancing.
-
Yay for soul food! Ok true confession. Today I had a breakfast burrito, 6 chicken nuggets, a pint of black berries, a pint of rasberries, and some turmeric ginger green tea. We drove 6 hrs to look at a puppy. I really need to get it together 😕
-
ksusan you are killing me, I'm sitting here drooling!
Littleblue, I love breakfast burritos. You are also making me drool.
I have ridden 2500 miles this year, which is a major accomplishment with surgery and chemo! I'm heading for my highest mileage years in three years since I started riding.
Ksusan, still practicing the twerking lol?
-
Jen, indulgence once in a while is probably good.
Theresa, wow!
I will probably never manage to twerk, but I was thinking today that you can't twerk without junk in your trunk.
-
Jen- sounds you HAVE it together!
T-great job in that important milestone. You are truly amazing.
And yeah. I think there is enough "equipage" to get the job done twerking here.
-
ksusan, you can twerk lol. Just bend your knees and shake your butt. It actually is great exercise. My one year old granddaughter started doing it, go figure.
When we all get together, I'm gonna feed you all shots and teach you to twerk lol. I will do anything after a shot or two. And we will all be rock stars at it!
-
Ok I am learning to twerk tonight. This is happening. And I have a pint of strawberries and some cheese on deck...Maybe the rest of that breakfast burrito. At least it has homemade chilli Verde on jt! Still sitting here doing crunches and waiting for my nails to dry.
-
Speaking of dancing, my co-workers and I host a Halloween party every year and this year someone decided we needed to learn the "Thriller" dance so we've been working on that every day. It's a pretty good workout and kind of a mental exercise as well trying to remember what move comes next. Tomorrow is a "thrill the world" event where people all over do the dance at the same time so we'll head to downtown Portland and join a couple hundred other zombies in the courthouse square. I am not a dancer. That makes this whole affair both humorous and exasperating. if I haven't danced my ass off I've certainly laughed my ass off these past couple of weeks. Exercise and well being to be sure.
-
sloth, omg, I so want in that action! I love dancing, I don't care how stupid I look.
Littleblue, add some Jameson and you will be an absolute rock star. Next appearance, dancing with the stars!
-
Good work everyone, walking, running, steps, or twerking! 4 mi in walking today for me.
Thanks ksusan for the food porn...I'm drooling too!
I've been having some lower back and right hip pain...wondering if it's from stress or maybe the Arimidex. Wondering how to adjust my exercise? I'm able to keep a brisk walk without much pain, but am wondering if walking too much will make it worse? Or should I take it easier for a bit? I don't want to aggravate it more, but still think I should keep up the exercise.

pboi, do you see a chiropractor? I get that sometimes and he adjusts me. My pelvic structure gets out of whack, and I end up with one leg shorter than the other from it. You could be out of whack structurally. Not sure what to say, I always exercise, pain or not. I figure if it doesn't kill me..... Like today, after Herceptin, my bike ride was painful on the hills. But I won't let this shit sandwich ever stop me. F*ck cancer and treatments.
-
T, Whiskey would put me on my ass, not help me shake it lol. Ah for the days....Ok I think I got the basic idea, but my butt cheeks still don't wiggle. Yes, I'm standing in my living room with a cup of tea trying to pop and lock with a youtube video right now...you guys would die laughing.
Also, yes. Every blessed breath I take is me saying Fu@k cancer. Amen, sister!
-
Linda! My older daughter & I always said we would learn it & never did. Perhaps I should add that to my exercise plan
-
Here you go!!
-
-
Thanks Theresa, I might give that a try.
Sloth...what a great Halloween party idea!

-
Sloth, I'm so impressed!
-
LBF, there's room for artistic expression and twerking amidst the shuffling zombies.
-
sloth, totally insane, love it!
Littleblue, squeeze your butt cheeks together like holding in a fart and release when trying to twerk. Ok, now I'm sitting here laughing my ass off, no pun intended! Or pun intended
There has to be an official twerk learning video!
-
Hilarious, Sloth!
I understand the theory of twerking, but the motion is stiff and unnatural for me.
-
slothabouttown: OMG, that was flippin' awesome!!!
I'm so envious! I remember being thrilled (HA!) every time the full-length Thriller video was shown on MTV years ago. I danced as a kid; I always loved imitating MJ and the zombies. I'd totally rock the dance now, too, if only I weren't in so much effing pain from the Taxol combo and my EDS... FVCK CANCER!!!
