Diabetes and breast cancer

does anyone have both of these disease? I was scheduled for a pet scan this week, my sugar was too high, has to be below 200. rescheduled for this afternoon, testing it every hour, as of now too high, just took my meds. hope it goes down, also have a biopsy scheduled before pet scan of lymph nodes opposite breast that has cancer that are extremely swollen. I so want all this to be taken care of so I can move on, was diagnosed august 25. the swollen lymph nodes is the reason I went to the doctor in the first place.

    I have both. Blood sugar control is an additional challenge during this whole process. I'm sorry you're having trouble getting it low enough to continue treatment.

    Try drinking LOTS of water, and go for a walk or some excercise. What meds are you on? If you can't get your glucose under 200, see if you can get somebody to ok a small insulin injection. Try not to stress, it WILL drive your #s up.

    Also watch your carbs. Stop all 'whites', potato, rice, wheat at least 24 hours before. No bananas and limit fruit. But the exercise is really crucial as well. An hour of bike riding, brisk walking works wonders on bringing the number down. Good luck.

    got it done. sugar was good enough to do the pet scan but I got sick after the procedure. now waitin for pet scan and lymph node biopsy, move on ...
