Nodular Density on CT

Options

Hello all,

Long story short is CEA was slowly rising after being normal, high 4's since before dx. In November was 6.8, March 6.4, now 7.3. Onco ordered CT chest, abdomen and pelvis. All was clear EXCEPT a 15mm nodular density seen anterior and right of pectoralis muscle on cancer side. Referred for mammo and u/s. Radiologist basically inconclusive and they want a biopsy because of my HX. She also said that they weren't seeing a "nodule" like the radiologist had indicated on CT. They were seeing what looked like more like a thickening or density that could be consistent with post surgical changes (scar tissue). I've had BMX and DIEP on cancer side. Because my cancer didn't show on scans or mammo, except for some of it on MRI, afraid that this could be an ILC recurrence. But I'm confused about the CT showing a mass. Does fat necrosis show as mass on CT and possibly just thickening on mammo and u/s? Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm sooo scared that this is a recurrence because of the exact pattern (with the exception of a positive CT) that it's following from my initial dx. Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance <3

I don't know a lot about this, but CT scans are notorious for "incidentalomas". Basically things they have to follow up but turn out to be nothing. In fact 1/3 (I think I have the number right) of all CTs show "something".

The CT could be showing anything. Maybe it had indigestion that day. Maybe you did!

Hang in there and I hope it all turns out OK.

Thank you Pajim :) That's what I'm hoping for. I'm just so confused as to how they could see a "mass" on ct but not on mammo or ultrasound. Weird. Oh well, fingers crossed :) Have a great weekend
