edited October 2015 in Waiting for Test Results

Hello - first of all how fabulous to have a forum place esp for those waiting for results. Here's my story. I had my 2nd mammo last week (I'm 41). The mammogram showed calcifications that weren't there on the last one a year ago so I was sent fir magnifications views. That was today. The doc said the views were indeterminate and marked it as a category 4 and ordered a biopsy. The biopsy is still a week away. I'm worried sick. Obviously the calcifications are something although because I'm under 50 I guess that it's not age. Realistically how likely is it that this turns out to be nothing? Im worried sick...

    Hi Cathy044,

    I know it's hard not to worry, but calcifications are common in many women. The reason those areas get biopsied is that they might appear in patterns or clusters that are associated with breast cancer. So, the calcifications themselves are not the problem as much as that they could be a sign of a problem. There is no way anyone can give you an accurate prediction of your outcome...just know that calcifications as such are not cancer. Try to be very good to yourself as you await your biopsy, and have someone special to you accompany you to it, even though they may tell you it's not necessary. Sending you hugs (((Cathy))))...

    oh this is my exact story! Were you told the configuration? Mine were a linear branching configuration. I also am 41. My 1st Mammo, then biopsy that same Friday to my results yesterday. I certainly dont want to scare you as everyone is different. I was BIRADS4 as well. Good luck on your biopsy!!! {{hugs}}

    They did not mention the configuration. I wish I had asked but didn't know then the importance of it.

    they are very limited on giving you info for sure. I am sorry! Trust me I totally know what you are going through! I prepared myself. Unfortunately my results weren't benign. 😞

    I hope yours will be ok! Stay in touch!

    this is mostly same as my story last month. Cluster of calcifications not seen before . I was 62 at the time. Birads 4. Biopsy showed ADH, Atypia , not good but not cancer. Going tomorrow for first follow up mammogram . It's a freak out.

    Yours could easily be the same as what mine showed which leaves me high risk now for bc.

    Good luck
