Dose dense taxol side effects
I start dose dense taxol next week and wanted to know what to expect with side effects. I just finished 4 DD AC and was hoping for an easier time with SE's. Would love to hear about experiences with those who did dose dense taxol.

You may be one of the lucky ones and not have any problems with taxol. I did DD AC and Taxol two years ago and was told that the AC was by far the worse. But I did ok on AC and I got neuropathy in my feet and toes that has never resolved. It happened after the 2nd treatment. Neuropathy is the most common problem with taxol. Not everyone gets it and it often goes away after treatment (although it might take some time). Since I'm going on almost two years since I started taxol (12/13), I assume that my neuropathy is permanent. Also, I had some pain in my bones so severe I had to take pain meds. But I'm not sure that was caused by taxol, ac or the shot they gave me after chemo.

I just finished DD Taxol on 9/28. A/C was not a problem for me. I did get an infection during treatment but in terms of side effects I really had little to none.
On Taxol, I would experience muscle pain on days 4 and 5. It wasn't unbearable but annoying. It felt like pain a couple of days after a hard workout but my legs would twinge and hurt even when I was sitting still. I did have some tingles in my finger tips after the 2nd dose but they weren't really numb. Make sure you tell your doctor if you notice anything. My MO reduced my dose by 20% and was prepared to cancel the last treatment if it got worse. It didn't and I had a reduced dose for the last treatment as well. The only thing I really notice now is that my hands will fall asleep during the night if I sleep with my head on them which is how I sleep.

For me, DD AC was the worst because of the nausea. I still had the fatigue with Taxol, and I also had some leg pain, but it was manageable for me. I started getting some neuropathy and mentioned it to my MO and he reduced my final dose a little bit. My last treatment was 12/17/14, and I don't have any residual neuropathy, but I know that's not the case for everyone.

I did it and actually had my hair begin to grow back after about 6 weeks of DD tx. I did ice fingers and toes and take L-glutamate (or something like that) to avoid neuropathy. My MO told me I probably wouldn't have nail problems and not to worry about icing but I wasn't taking any chances, so I used frozen peas and stuck my fingertips in two open bags (one for each hand) and put a bag on each foot. I had to take breaks because my hands were so cold they hurt, but I lost no nails (although it was interesting when one bag spilled in the chemo chair once

following. I am on dose dense AC Taxol. Finished 2 sessions AC, so if I stay on schedule, will start Taxol 11/30, Monday after Thanksgiving

my mo also said icing wouldn't affect the neuropathy. I will ask about glucosamine. I am more worried about bone pain on taxol. I will get the neulesta body injector as I did with AC and have really bad bone pain that I take prescription meds for. Anyone have experience with neulesta and DD taxol?

I did not do any type of icing and had no issues nail-wise.
I did take neulasta with DD taxol. I didn't have any problems from it that I could tell....no bone pain, just the muscle pain.

what kind of GI issues are there with taxol? AC is brutal on my gut with constipation and acid reflux. I would like a break from the constipation train.
