Awaiting Biopsy Results~ sick to my stomach!
Hi Everyone,
I just came across this forum. In the past week everything has turned upside down & I have never been so scared in almost 42 years of my life!
Last Monday I had my 1st Mammo {3D}. I got the call back next day saying microcalcifications left breast. I return next day for additional magnified images. Told needed a Biopsy. So then Friday, Oct 16 a Stereotactic biopsy was done.
{ microcalcifications arranged in a linear & branching configuration in upper-outer quadrant left breast}
BIRADS category 4- Suspicious
I have done nothing but google & when I read this, I am not setting my hopes high:
Microcalcifications with linear distribution and branching are always considered high risk for breast cancer -
They said today or tomorrow for results. I do have an appt with breast surgeon tomorrow afternoon. I can't even function normally. Every second of the day my mind is on this. I am so scared!

Hello Jersey, I'm from New Jersey too! I'm sorry your first mammo has turned out to be so nerve wracking. Please know (and I'm sure you do since you have been on Dr. Google!) that 80% of Birads 4 are benign. Odds are definitely in your favor! Also, even if you do have a pre-condition that may lead to bc in the future, now you know and you can have extras surveillance (maybe rotating every six months between mammo and mri, like me). Please let us know how you do. Fingers and toes crossed for you! Mary

Hi Mary {neighbor},
Thank you so much! I need to stop googling!! I know they have no baseline. They just have a good way of scaring you so much! I just haven't been myself & feel bad because I know my 21 yr old & 13 yr old daughters are affected too especially seeing me this way. My husband feels helpless

Hello fellow jersey girls..... The waiting is the worst...... You feel feel much better when you have more facts.Hopefully it's benign. There is nothing scarier than when our minds wonder with the unknown. Try to stay positive. Remember you are fine until they prove otherwise! Hang in there and keep us posted. Good luck...
