how long was your hospital stay?

I have not seen much relating to hospital stays.

    My stay for bilateral Mx was 23 hours. I think that is pretty standard

    I had a lumpectomy, and should have been out later the same day but had a bad reaction to the post-surgery painkillers and ended up staying overnight for monitoring. My mother had a single mastectomy (no reconstruction) and did not stay over.

    I had a mastectomy; right side only and was in hospital for 3 nights. Was told to expect to stay 3 to 7 days.

    Hospital stays here in Australia do seem to be a little longer.

    Maybe that's because it is mostly covered under our public health system, Medicare.

    Seeking and waiting for approval from insurers isn't an issue here.

    I had a wire-guided lumpectomy, in at 6 a.m., home by 4 that afternoon, asleep on the couch 4:10!

    I too was in by 6am and home by 4pm for my mastectomy. Homecarecame twice but really didn't need them.

    why so long. I'm told to plan on five hours total 10 am to 3pm with one hour surgery include axillary and lumpectomy

    The first time I had my lumpectomy at 9:00am and was home by 2:45pm...if you have no issues, they let you go. The second time, I was in by 7:30 and home by 12:30.

    In CT, "drive by" mastectomies are illegal. They passed a law that you must stay at least overnight or usually two nights to be monitored and so they can teach you what to do with the drains etc. No outpatient here in my state for MX.

    I was in at 6:00 am, went into surgery late, around noon, out by 2:00 pm and home by 4:00 pm. It was super easy surgery. Hardly any pain.

    Bilateral, in and out in a few hours. I'd always rather be recuperating at home than in the hospital.

    Lumpectomy: did not spend the night but maybe should have due to lots of bleeding that first night.

    Bilateral mastectomy: spent two nights and was glad to be in the hospital. I was ready to go home on day three but not before then.

    I'm not a wimp. I went home 26 hours after giving birth and felt perfectly fine about that. (Of course I was a few years younger then :-)

    I got out of surgery late and stayed 2 nights. I wasn't really in a hurry .....I have Aflac that paid me for being in the hospital

    In New Zealand I stayed one night for lumpectomy and the lady in my room who had a mastectomy stayed for two nights.
