new to the site...now 1 and 1/2 yrs out, post lumpectomy, rads, and on Arimidex, retired Oncology nurse (nobody's immune!)

I've told a lot of people as I get past this Bump In The Road (hah!) that I think of my breast cancer as being like a salty old parrot perched on my shoulder.......most of the time it's behaving with it's head tucked under a wing, other times it's screaming obscenities in my ear, and every now and then it's crapping down my shirt.....and if I can't laugh at it, I can't live with it!

    Maxnana,

Love the idea of the parrot, especially the crapping down your shirt part! I will have to remember that the next time I get discouraged....it will make me laugh. I am also 1 1/2 years from diagnosis and on Arimidex. I had mastectomy, chemo and rads.

    Welcome to this site!

    Hey Maxnana,

Welcome from me also. If we can't laugh about bc, what do we have left? I like the parrot, too!! I feel like he has crapped on my entire life .

I am 2 1/2 yrs. out, bi-lat. mast., chemo, rads and Arimidex.

Hi again....so far the parrot's got his head tucked under, which is where he hopefully will stay (may try bribing him with crackers, see what we can work out)
Coming up (early Jan.) on follow up mamm and visits with med onc and rad onc, so the parrot is stirring,I'm putting on a crap-proofed vest just in case.
If we don't keep our sense of humor, what have we got left?

I'm going to remember this when I see the doc.

Don't forget to put on your smile with the vest....it's the only way it keeps the crap off.
    (good luck at the doc's)
