    I picked fruit for 1.5 h today w/ a food rescue group I volunteer with. Walked the dog, did tasks - over 10k steps. Took the fitbit off - too sweaty. I'll need to pop in 2 more walks before I put the pup to bed so I feel like I'm rocking it today. Although my TE thought the fruit picking was a stupid idea. Hitting the lake tomorrow w/ the dog so more walks there. Yay!

    You do an amazing amount of walking Eileen; I'm impressed! What kind of fruit did you pick?

    Your vacation sounds great ksusan! I'm sure you and your wife will have a wonderful time. My dad's Austrian, my mom's German, and I was born in Austria and lived there until I was 7. I have aunts, uncles, and cousins in both Austria and Germany and have been back to visit several times, unfortunately not since my daughter was a baby in 2000. How long will the tour be? Will you have time to seek out your own fun or will everything be more or less planned for you?

    The weather turned this morning, just as predicted, and I had a wonderful bike ride from Sidney to Victoria. It was a beautiful trail all the way to downtown Victoria and then just a few km on city streets with nice bike lanes for over halfway. All together it was about 28km through residential neighbourhoods, along farmland with pumpkin fields and happy pigs, through forested trails, over wooden bridges, and on beautiful waterfront paths. The trail was very heavily used by bikers of all ages and abilities, walkers, runners, and equestrians.

    I'm all settled in at the lodge and just getting ready to head downstairs for dinner. I'll update my post this evening with my totals for fluids, protein, and fruits/veggies.

    Edited to add; 127 oz fluids, 75g protein, 10 servings fruits/veggies

    I'll have to do better on the protein tomorrow.

    I had begun walking each week 2-3 times a week. Now I find myself in 5th week if he I struggling to stay strong & healthy fighting il uff a cold and sore throat, little energy. Any suggestions are welcome.

    I am eating less due to loss of appetite. I have Lost about 5 lbs and would like to lose 30 total. My main concern is staying healthy and strong as I undergo the chemo treatments. I am overweight. I am continually weighing myself and tracking my food. I'm hoping to morrow will be better so I can do my 3 mile walk again.

    csalazar make sure you eat enough protein. I think our protein need increases with chemo

    Ksusan, the vacation sounds amazing! How's the vertigo? Dobre dan!

    Eileen, you are a machine! So impressed!

    Csalazar, nice job keeping active. Your body is working so hard during chemo, you will probably lose weight without trying. I lost about 20 lbs. It's so important to fuel yourself during this time, be sure you talk to your MO befor you diet!

    Crashed through the forest for 5,5 hrs today like a wounded moose. Good times!

    took a lovely walk in a forest today, over a wooden bridge, past a waterfall, up and down hills.Don't know how far, but I was huffing and puffing. Blew some cobwebs out I think. It was lovely.

    Hi all! I have been reading, just not posting much since I have been laying low after surgery. But, am feeling good and getting energy back, although I see how a daily nap could become a habit! My big news.....at least for me......I got a Fitbit Zip! It was so easy to set up and less involved than the wrist one. I logged 6553 steps today! I took a long walk to see if it worked!

    But, for you that have one....question....So, one mile is 5,280 feet. But, Fitbit measures steps, which I imagine are at a 2 foot stride. So, 5,280 steps would only be 1/2 mile. Is that right? Fitbit says 2.82 miles, but I know my walk was 3 miles because I drove it. Anyone who can explain?

    Katy, You get one and you and I can be Fitbit buddies and tract daily! :) I need motivation! Zip was $59.95 at Target.

    You can reset your stride on the Fitbit site, I'm told.

    10/13: Fitbit steps + resistance band + stretches + 20 reclined triceps extension + 20 modified military press + 125 crunches + 50 dead bugs + 100 pedals + 15# lifts [15x4] + 1.0 hr T (2.5 MPH) = 5.25 miles

    I've been doing 12-hour fasting for the last few weeks, not eating snacks, and exercising a lot. I have sort of slightly lost 1 pound (that is, I now wobble between X and X-1 rather than X and X+1). That only took 4 months 0_0

    Isn''t this lack of weight loss thing crazy? What do we have to do to lose weight? I saw something that says chemo messes up the metabolism of some people. So how do we un-mess it up?

    Walking 6 miles every day. Fastest since starting chemo: 1h 16m 30s. Slowest about 3 hours, stopping for cake and coffee. Today, slow (very tired) but felt better at end than at beginning. Sunny. Hang in there ladies!

    On my fitbit 10k steps is 3.8 miles because I'm short.

    It is pretty amazing to walk almost 100,000 steps in an average week but lose no weight. It's not like I'm eating bon bons or drinking a 6 pack.

    Isn't that the truth? Who has the magic answer? I swear, some weeks I burn 6,000-8,000 calories in exercise. And weight loss? I'm lucky if I can lose .5 pounds a week, but one week of not watching, bam, it's right back.

    Eileen, Yes, I love the Zip Fitbit. It attaches (very securely) to your shirt or the top of pants. I did more today - over 8000 steps! I am in competition with myself! LOL

    Lynn- I have an app on my phone, so I don't think I'm going to get a Fitbit. But I'm with you in spirit.

    Ok - lake stairs: 85 flights. 5.7 miles of dog walking. I wish my cat wasn't terrified of dogs. Dogs are better for my daily steps, cats are better for my daily sitting.

    85 flights! Your shins are gonna feel it!

    18 mile ride tonight, cut short by darkness. Then we shared a piece of hummingbird cake at Urban Plates. It was worth it

    Yay for lovely forest walks and wooden bridges Katy! Great job on all the stairs Eileen! You're my bike riding inspiration as always, Theresa. Great job on all the walking Csalazar, MsBrompton, and Lynn. Lbf (Jen?) do you get paid to crash through the forest or is it just for fun? Anyway, 5-1/2 hours sounds like quite an adventure! Awesome job on all the work-outs ksusan. You're an inspiration to me!

    I had a long day yesterday and was too tired to post last night. I had 2 radiation treatments, met w/ MO, got Tamoxifan prescription filled incl. meeting with pharmacist to go over SEs, and got my port flushed. I also went to the pub with a group of ladies I met here at the lodge . I did squeeze in a nice one hour bike ride (maybe 14 or 15km... there were some hills) and a little bit of walking as I walked to the hospital for all my appointments and we did walk to the pub. They're each only 2 to 4 blocks away. I had 120oz of fluids (not including the beer), 110g protein, and 7 servings fruits/veggies.

    Glad to see everyone doing so well. Me, I'm barely hanging on to the wagon, it seems.Mentally I'm going in and out of the rabbit hole this week, lots of appointment anxiety...ugh! I was up to a goal of 4-5 mi a day, but am sliding back to about 3 mi a day. Gonna work harder at it today. Someone pull me back into the wagon!!!

    You're right Ksusan, but I aspire to be like you! ...moving more, moving forward. Guess I'm just a little disappointed in myself.

    Don't be disappointed in yourself, Pboi! Just think how much you have been through. Even thinking about exercise reserves that space in your brain, in my opinion. So you are doing great!

    Well, yesterday I was straight up on my hands and knees digging a square hole in the mud all day. Not very aerobic, but man are my glutes and arms sore! So I guess I'll kind of count it. It was my anniversary, too, and DH made an awesome dinner of seared tuna. He's a great cook! He also got me 5 dozen red roses, to celebrate our marriage and putting cancer in its grave. I am so grateful for him!

    Eaglemom, I do hike for work. I'm an archeologist and do a lot of survey.
