Well, we have met the enemy and he is us. Pathology came back as IDC, grade 3 with lymph node metastatic carcinoma consistent with breast primary. The good news is that it is Estrogen (98%) and Progesterone (89%) positive and HER2 negative and the lump is only 1.5 cm. I have an appointment with the oncologist next Wednesday, a trip to see my grandchildren (planned for months,) and the surgeon on Oct. 22nd. That same day, I meet with my second opinion surgeon. Hopefully, I will have enough info then to continue with treatment. Just a little overwhelmed right now, but I guess I've done all I can do until I meet with all the Docs.

I'm so sorry you find yourself here! Your post struck a particular chord with me because of your appointment date with your surgeon..10/22....That was my BMX surgery date last year..my one year cancerversary this year, and I say that to give you hope and encouragement. You're in the horrible first days of diagnosis when there are more questions than answers but you will feel so much better when you know what's in store and your treatment plan is clear. Once you have a surgery date, you might want to join the surgery sisters thread for that month. I was part of the October 2014 surgery sisters and they were such a life line. I wish you all the best. You are in the right place to find support, take care!

Thanks hummingbird, I've gone from 0 to 60 in my knowledge about breast cancer. I had no idea how complex it is, but it is encouraging to hear from so many survivors. I know I'll feel a lot better once I have settled on a breast center and a plan for treatment. Right now, everything is so up in the air.
