Jen, my chainsaw is just a little Worx brand home model. I have a lot of old fruit trees in my yard that are always in need of climbing up, I'm not chopping firewood or bushwhacking (ive been wanting to use that word ever since I saw it in one of your posts!)but it does vibrate quite a bit which is why I was concerned.

Susan, thanks for the pointers. I can reciprocate maybe- having a lot of experience with the department of health and rabies risk assessment and testing decisions. If your cats had current vaccines and you're more than ten days out from the incident then you are all clear. Bats are for sure the most prominent vector for rabies here in Portland, I hadn't heard about this recent confirmed case but seems like September and October are the months they tend to show up.

We are having a flu shot clinic at my work tomorrow. Has everyone been told to get one this year? My MO never mentioned it but seems like it's the general recommendation among this group?

Good to know. I was wondering if it was OK to get one this fall so close to finishing chemo. I suppose it would not matter.

Ask for the flu shot in your upper thigh! I always have axillary pain from flu shots and this year, with the shot in my thigh, I have no pain.

Thanks for the rabies info, Sloth. The latest case was in Lane Co.

    10/8: Fitbit steps + resistance band + stretches + 10 reclined triceps extension + 20 modified military press + 75 crunches + 40 dead bugs + 150 pedals + 15# lifts [10x1] + 20 lunges with hand weights + 1 60 sec plank + 90 min Zumba = 8.0 miles

Yeah, I did two Zumba classes today. My stamina is good even though I can't do a lot of the twisty moves--but I can do the more calisthenic ones.

    Good work Octogirl!

Ksusan- LOL the power of desperation. I used to call that "the fear". As in, the fear of not being able to hang with the 20 year old boys on my crew. Ugh.

I feel the same way ksusan, the power of desperation and for me I have a lot of fear. I have to do this and fear what might happen if I don't continue to keep exercising, eating healthy, sleeping well, and reducing my stress, it seems that that is all I have now that I can control.

Was looking at SpecialKs Virgin Diet (March thread) and know that though I'm eating a lot better now, I need to and can do better. It's gonna be so hard...worried if I can keep this all up.

My post treatment diet consists of anti-depressants and french toast. Of course, I'm only 2 days out.

Jen, I like your style. Make that gluten-free bread, an egg substitute, Earth Balance, frozen berries, and cinnamon, and you're doing the Virgin diet!

Awesome, Ksusan! So happy for your sister!

Eating well and being super fit didn't keep me from getting cancer at 34. Ya just gotta wonder if it really matters... Caveat to that is that I did drink like a fish for years and was under a ton of stress. Hence the lexapro and tee-totaling now..

Great news KSusan! And I love your "deconstructed" and reconstructed Post-tx French Toast recipe!

Jen- you do whatever you want for a few days. You have earned it.

PB- I get you on the fear thing. But our Frau Doktor has convinced me over time that I cannot control everything. And I must consider quality of life. I am trying to live without being afraid. I am not successful every day. A couple of times last week I just felt so tired if it all, that after 58 years on this planet, I just can't fight so hard anymore. That I will just lay down and let it take me if it wants me so bad. But then I get a jolt of energy and desire for living more and I perk up again. For me, I am more concerned about the quality of the life I have remaining, than the gross quantity. I am doing a lot of things to try to prevent recurrence. I'll never be able to do it all.

So I'm working on my head and my heart as much as my body. I don't want to live in fear. I think that falls under the general heading ofwell-being.

I will look up the Virgin diet though. Because I'm not quite the nihilist I seem sometimes LOL. But really....after being married for 10 years I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed and isn't coming back LOL.

Thank you for your post, and I agree Katy. Letting go of the fear is so hard. Quality of life is important, but with my youngest just 7, quantity is important to me. I so desperately want to see him and his sisters grow up. There is so much I can't control, but what I can control I will try to, for my family...for me.

I understand PB. It rather, I admit I don't, since I don't have young children. Any children. But I think kids are very good at reading between the lines. Do your best. That's all you can do.

I may update this if I can get myself onto the treadmill, but here's today (a little achy from the flu shot Wednesday, I think):

    10/9: Fitbit steps + resistance band + stretches + 10 reclined triceps extension + 20 modified military press + 150 crunches + 40 dead bugs + 200 pedals + 4 15# lifts [10x3] + 1 60 sec plank + 50 [25x2] biceps curls = 2.31 miles

I'm on the treadmill. I don't want to be. Rock and/or roll will help. Speaking of--Patti Smith has a new book out!

Good stuff, Katy! I'm still not allowed to do flies.

Jen, I'm especially fond of "Horses" on that album (though "25th Floor" from Easter is right up there).

Katy, you are inspiring me to start working my core again . I'm gonna copy your plan if that's ok?
