Theresa! Eeek! 3 month check up here. I will cross my eyes for you! And fingers and such.

And also, YEAH ksusan, what T said. You can probably plank me into oblivion right now.

I trudge along without losing half a pound ever, but I'm trying to reframe it as "not gaining Tamoxifen/mrnopause weight."

    Good luck tomorrow, Theresa.

ksusan, I have lost 6 pounds of 18 pound chemo weight gain, so I'm not sure what it takes to lose weight anymore. Stapling my mouth shut I guess. It's so hard to deprive myself with the fear lurking over my head that some day I won't be able to enjoy all the foods I love now. That's probably the Italian in me, always a justification for eating good food!

Thanks for the good wishes. How is your sister doing

I hear you. I'm not even eating anything fun :(

My sister is up and around, happy with what she thinks the lumpectomy scar will look like, and waiting for her path report. I have a box of radiation supplies ready to send her once it's clear I don't need to send her a chemo box instead.

Theresa...your granddaughter is adorable and resembles you 😊

You all inspire me each in your own way every day, to exercise, eat well, and just be well! You ladies are all awesome!!!

    10/7: Fitbit steps + resistance band + stretches + 20 reclined triceps extension + 20 modified military press + 125 crunches + 20 dead bugs + 150 pedals + 10# lifts [10x4] + 10 lunges with hand weights + 1 60 sec plank + 1.0 hr T (2.6 MPH) + biceps hand weights = 4.84 miles

Theresa, thinking of you and I know your mammogram results will be clean as a whistle.

Susan, hoping for an easy road ahead for your sister.

I sent my aunt a box of chemo supplies last month (pancreatic cancer) and while I know her chemo is going to be much more brutal than mine, I figured some things like artificial tears, nasal saline, a book of crosswords and of course coconut oil might be universally appreciated. I also sent her one of the wig catalogs that I now get in my mailbox about once a week (need to get off their mailing list dang it.)

I'm still walking and trying to eat healthy but I haven't started pushing myself, I need to get going on that. This weekend I need to run the chainsaw and trim up a bunch of dead wood on my property and I'm a little worried about a lymphedema trigger but I 'm going to test my luck.

I have my mother's heirloom tomato seeds dried and ready to mail to Katy and Allison. I had a few late tomatoes that I was watching ripen and some varmint came through and munched the side out of all three of them so my season of home grown tomato porn is officially over. It was a good one though.

Allison, I took my two granddaughters shoe shopping at Stride Rite this week. One year old and two year old. I can tell you I am in for it because they tried on every pair of shoes they could find! Not trying to hijack the thread, but those grandchildren are my "well being" place! And I hope many more years to come

ksusan-my core hurts just looking at your routine! The universe took your boobs, you deserve six pack abs!

Sloth, what kind of saw do you have? I'm looking for one but stihls are hard to work on at home and that's all I've used.

Well being-Dr apps every hour today until noon. Wheeeeeeee! Barf.

After ten days of pretty much feeling like crap post chemo Round Two, with what was probably a cold and definitely a fever that didn't want to go away thrown in, I am back to feeling almost normal. And I walked today! 1.25 miles. Not my best time or distance ever, but I walked! Thank you to all of you for being my inspiration!

Italychick: I hear you on the grandchildren. I have two: a GS who is almost three and a GD who is seven. They have the type of sibling mixed feelings for each other that you might imagine.

For your entertainment pleasure: here is a recent conversation they had about Halloween (overheard by their mom, my daughter):

Grandson asks Granddaughter: "What are you going to be for Halloween?"
    GD: "I don't know yet."
    GS: "Maybe a mouse?"
GD: "I think YOU should be a mouse. You would make a great mouse!!!... Because you are such a pest!"

    Have a good day all!

    Good walking, Octogirl!

Sloth, anecdotally (since there's no good study), you might try

    • Wearing gloves that prevent blisters and covering your arms to avoid scratches and exposure to pathogens.
    • Wearing compression garments.
    • Going slowly and deliberately in order not to strain your arms.
    • Taking breaks--decrease the amount of time you're using the saw (or moving debris) and rest your arms in between.
    • Doing MLD before and after.

Hey, remember that bat my cats brought in a few weeks ago? The one county health wouldn't test? The paper now reports a rabid bat a few miles away and says it's the 3rd rabid bat found in that 10-mile radius in the last few weeks. Fortunately, the cats seem fine (and were up to date on vaccinations). I'd assess them for the lethargic form of rabies, but I'm not sure how I'd tell! They're not what you'd call highly active animals.

My flu shot site is pink and raised, but I'm not feeling axillary lymph node swelling, which I usually do with flu shots. Moving injections off my arms may be a really good strategy.

So normal mammogram results, woohoo! Doctor said try to lose some more weight, but then said when you figure out how to do it, please let me know.

So next testing end of January, so I get to enjoy the holidays!

Octogirl, we should trade stories - I've got a million like that, so hilarious!

    (cross-posting)

My ND suggested heavy adherence to an anabolic/catabolic food cycle (i.e., don't eat for 12 straight hours--limit yourself to, say, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM). I haven't found this to do anything, but then nothing else is, either, so I'm sticking to it until I find an alternative. I'm interested to know if I'm gaining muscle mass at least (though my clothing fit hasn't changed).

I've lost weight before, but it was really painful to do. I had to basically deprive myself of everything that wasn't protein or vegetables, and I mean be super strict. Cream in my coffee was my "treat."

Oh for the 20s again when I could eat what I wanted and just diet a couple of days and lose weight overnight.

Theresa: I totally understand. I keep telling myself my older daughter could not survive without me so I HAVE to be here.

    Octo: That exchange is awesome!

I don't know what to tell you about the weight, Theresa. My normal response is exercise but I know you do. And I know you eat well. I know it's frustrating.

After menopause, weight loss is really tough. If I ever figure out the magic, I will be sure to share. Losing 50 pounds, then gaining 20 back during chemo (only about 6-8 pounds down from the chemo gain), is so disheartening. But I will get there again.

Feel odd after testing today, like what do I do now? I guess just enjoy life!

So what you are saying is, not getting fat is going to prove much harder now that I am in chemopause? Ugh. I'm going to have to improve my diet now that I don't have to fear the healthfood...

ksusan, that is awesome. And a big part of the battle, in my humble opinion. So she now has the 70-75% at least curative with surgery since good margins, etc. I am so happy for you and for her
