The Thing That Hurt The Most During Treatment

I'm so glad I found this thread! I also went to the LGFB session; I had a fun time and was happy to get the free gifts. At that point in time I was not thinking about what was in the products that I was putting ON my body. I know so much more now and it infuriates me. I'm so glad there is a movement to stop it; where do I sign?!

Jenwith4 click here then middle of page click "Take Action"
Put in your zip code and your name etc and a letter will pop up pre-addressed (email) to the appropriate person. Or persons in your geographic area. Easy Peasy.

Done! And shared!

Jen- thank you! You are awesome for sharing!

The Poison Isn't Pretty campaign has been launched. One of the things Breast Cancer Action is doing is creating quote memes that can be shared from their FB page to yours. Here's the first one:
You can google BCAction Facebook and share from there

today my SIL pointed me to a company that is getting it right during pinktober. It was so refreshing to see their approach, I wrote them a letter. Just sharing:
Dear Beautycounter:
Through a referral from family, I was led to Beautycounter yesterday. I am amazed, grateful, and awestruck that somebody FINALLY figured out a way to respect breast cancer awareness month, breast cancer patients, and yourselves by not partaking in pinkwashing.
I am not political, nor a professional advocate. I am a patient who has been profoundly hurt by the way BC "awareness" has evolved. Programs like Look Good Feel Better, and literally thousands of individual promotions that tie breast cancer fundraising to corporate sales, marketing, and profits, blur the goal, distract from the cause, and are often personally offensive.
In one fell swoop, you have designed and implemented a "way out" of this problem. Your corporate web page here:
http://www.beautycounter.com/know-everything/what-breast-cancer-prevention-means-beautycounter/
is informational, educational, tasteful, and includes the message that people are not required to buy something pink for you to lift your fingers to help. This was so powerful for me to read.
Simply matching funds and educating. Actually some of the brightest ideas ever have been simple.
I applaud you for your corporate mission and giving the world a template of how to act during October. You have my business. Forever. -
Very refreshing to read about this company. Thank you for bringing them to our attention!
Great letter too. It always helps to get positive feedback so hopefully they'll keep up their mission. Thanks for doing that too!

Tell These Pinkwashers: "Poison Isn't Pretty"
Demand the Personal Care Products Council and the American Cancer Society stop pinkwashing!
(Hopefully the link works now.)

cp- there seems to be a problem with the link. But I think you know which way you were pointing.
I sent the letter.
Shared on my FB page
Spent last weekend asking friends and family to sign and share.
It seems to be working!
Thanks do much for your support
