Awesome on the new PR Allison!

And thanks. It must be adraneline or something, or maybe endorphins, but I physically feel better, as in pain reduction, when I write those letters. It has made me feel so much less helpless and victimized. If I felt that good when I exercised, I'd be running marathons. But I am heading out for a walk in a bit. Then swatting some bugs.

K- how is your sister doing post-op?

    Glad it's energizing, Katy.

My sister was sore but comfortable this morning.

I took my pup for a custodial visit. Two laps around Lake Balboa. Just under 10k steps. Because she's a lab and especially naughty she ignored the no swimming signs. Oooopsie

    Good job, Jen!

We haven't had any tomato porn for awhile. Can't believe it's October and no end in sight!

Sitting on my ass today reading science. Hoping to take the dog to the lake this weekend for some non-rainy hiking.

I love tomatoes! Katy are you eating those as is, or making something delicious? I love food pictures, wish I could cook though...lol!

Haven't been good about posting my exercise, but I continue moving on my treadmill + steps, getting 4-5 mi in daily.

Keep moving everyone...you all inspire me to keep going!

PB- I am pretty much eating them raw, 2-3 per day. I never get tired of this:

Sliced fresh tomatoes, at room temp, sprinkled with sea salt

Fresh mozzarella (the wet kind that comes in balls, suspended in water)

    Fresh basil

Sourdough bread from my favorite artisan bakery

    First pressed cold pressed EVOO

The oldest and most expensive balsamic vinegar I can afford. (I make sacrifices)

Both of the above sprinkled generously over, with the bread to sop up remainders.

Sometimes I add some roasted chicken and/or fresh avocado..

    I swear, it's dope!

I am so jealous. We have gotten crappy tomato crops for the last few years. My husband tried to blame it on a rodent eating them the first year. Not sure if this is true or not.

I eat them raw almost daily too. Those are some great ideas, easy enough for me to prepare too!

Oddly enough my kids didn't inherit my love of tomatoes. The only way I can get them to eat them is if I make them!

This is a bit off topic but did you all love/enjoy veggies as a kid? I grew up eating a lot of veggies, but my 3 kids (age 7 and twins 10) hate them. We've always had veggies at meals, and they have to eat them but it's always a struggle. If you happen to have any tips, I'm all ears

    (Delurking in this thread)

Jackbirdie: That sounds magnificent! I could eat that every day and never tire of it!

Adark- Welcome! Thanks for delurking. Haha. Tomato porn does it every time.

PB- I definitely was not a veggie lover as a kid. My mother was an excellent cook, but I really didn't learn to appreciate them until later in life.

pboi, my 16-year-old was not exactly a fan of veggies when he was younger. Plain, steamed broccoli, maybe, or a carrot or celery stick. And yes, he had to try everything.

I think time and maturity are part of the answer. (Maturity is a relative term even now!) We just kept saying you have to have two bites, and in time, the range expanded, and there were more dishes he would finish. And I kept looking for dishes that would incorporate veggies in other things, i.e. asian stir fries. We also started a garden, so there was that pleasure in planting beans or even herbs and then eating them.

So gradually, he came to eat more, and he also grew up enough to realize he had to pick his battles, and supper--as opposed to video games--was not one of them. Then the adolescent growth spurt came, and in the wish to consume 4000 calories every two hours, he started eating pretty much everything and even liking it. Most recent victories: eggplant and raw tomatoes. Good luck....

Pboi, with the grandkids, we started out putting butter and/or sour cream on everything, then gradually transitioned to just the veggie. Like with broccoli, granddaughter Ella would only eat it with butter and salt and now she will eat it more plain. But she will put sour cream on everything on her plate if she can. But how do you tell this little face no? She's one of my reasons for fighting so hard through chemo with all my exercise.

She is an adorable little imp. I think I see some resemblance to her grandmother.

Next stop for her is use plain yoghurt instead of sour cream. Tastes and looks similar...worth a try?

There is also the ketchup solution--though beware the extra sugar.

    She is deeply cute!

We are all about the sour cream lol. I do get an organic cultured one with all the good bugs in it, so probably the same as yogurt. She drinks plain kefir with no problem. But sour cream is on a different plane of existence for her lol.

Oh, and she will pop you a good one if you piss her off - wonder where she gets that?

Yum! I'm not sure I knew there was food that wasn't mostly vegetables until I went to college--my mother cooked in a pretty Asian way for the family (though she could do the whole French thing for company).

I went in for my flu shot today. I'd received differing opinions about having it in a deltoid, so I asked to have it elsewhere. The nurse suggested upper thigh, which was a new injection site for me. SO much more comfortable than a shot in the arm! I'm completely sold on this and not sure why it's not more routinely used.

Bushwhacked from 10 to 4:30 today with a 45 min lunch break. Felt pretty strong, although I definitely got hangry about 2. 3 month checkup tomorrow...yikes! Everybody is doing so well! Love caprese salad, Katy! Thanks for reminding me of it. Theresa, beautiful grand baby there!

Jen- you're the only girl I know who, when she says "bushwhacked", has literally whacked bushes! All day! What a specimen of female vitality you are. The real deal. I am bowing down. In the not worthy position. Do they gave a yoga pose for that?

I didn't realize how unused I am to sitting all day. After mostly sitting and reading today I almost lost my mind & developed a severe case of noodle leg. Had to go out & walk. 7k steps today. Yay!

littleblue, so you practiced your karate moves today? I'm lmfao at the visualization. That's what I usually do in a spider web encounter.

24.5 miles on road bike today, back on the big hills because thankfully the heat has somewhat abated. We cheated during the heat and did 30 miles coastal which is mostly flat.

Ksusan, you post constantly and are always doing exercise, so I don't wanna hear it lol! But you are also stretching and doing core strength building which is super important. I need to add that to my twerking practice!

Just kidding on the twerking, but I am gonna practice before our reunion!

Mammo results 8:00 am tomorrow, eek!
