crs003, positive thoughts for your procedure tomorrow. I hope that it is an easy recovery and that you'll be back on your feet on no time. Since it's your first time with g.a. you might ask the anestesiologist to give you something for nausea just in case. A lot of people, me included, get queasy upon waking up...pain can make it worse. I hear that there are a lot more preventative things they can do now.

O K team let's gather together and escort crs003 to surgery today. She will be having a right lumpectomy and reduction. Praying for an easy recovery and a successful surgery.

I just got the date for my surgery. I'm going in Oct 22 for BMX and expanders. Will be thinking of those who are going before me this month.

KK re a 2nd or 3rd opinion in my case. I started with my MO, met the PS he recommended. Wasn't sure about him. 2 Gals I know used a PS where I Iive for reductions and augmentations and they both showed me her work which was nice so I got a referral to her from my GP. Loved her, lots of reconstruction experience but since she was honest she also referred me to an even more experienced PS in Toronto to explore DIEP and LD flaps. It took about 5 months to get an initial appointment though and after that I decided not to go either route and went back to PS #2 for the TE to Implant surgery. You really have to network.

JB. A little correction for me. I've already had the UMX, just TE placement tomorrow. Glad to hear you're home. I worry about sleeping too. I don't have a recliner but I'll try my bed, my day bed in the spare room which is lower to the ground and my couch. I picked up one of those bed back rest pillow things though, we'll see what works

CRS. I'm nervously excited too. I thought they were keeping me overnight at the hospital but nope, day surgery which is totally fine with me.The surgery itself per the pre op nurse is under an hour! I just had to rearrange things re pickup, was going to be my sister now a friend. She'll be over later in the afternoon though to spend a few days with me. Looking forward to sister time. I picked up those antibacterial sponges yesterday. I didn't have them 4 years ago though when I had the MX surgery but per the pharmacist they're the standard now. I have a feeling I won't be sleeping tonight, have to be up at 5 so what's the point. Edited to add and I find none of the doctor's or nurses seem to mention this. Sorry if TMI but trust me on this one. The anastetic (spelling) and pain meds will constipate you, Start taking a senna based stool softener now and take as directed every day until you're off any medication and as much water as you can handle. You'll thank me later

Myleftboob - thank you for reminding everyone of the constipation problems.

I did have problems on surgery #1. I now make sure I start a stool softener day of surgery. You still have to be diligent each time. I am day 4 and still no movement so started Mirilax last night as well.

I hope this info prevents anyone from having bowel issues. May seem like TMI until you find yourself needing help.

    Good luck to everyone.

Waiting for an October surgery date for excisional biopsy in the right breast for FEA, lumpectomy and SNB in the left breast with possible ALND. I had neo adjuvant THCP with a 30% reduction in the size of the breast mass and lymph node. Just hoping that what was left and visible on mammogram and ultrasound is just scar tissue. I am due for my first Herceptin only infusion this Friday..I finished chemo on 9/16/15 and went back to work last week. I am feeling pretty good, just a few GI issues and I am tired by the end of the day. Anxious to get the surgery out of the way so I can heal up for radiation therapy. I want this all done by the end of 2015!

I'm trying to get in a zen rainbows butterfly glitter kind of mood before I go home to my husband and girls (17&12) so I don't freak them out! They have totally fed off my energy ever since I was diagnosed this is exhausting more so then chemo! Hahaha no seriously! Felt a mini breakdown coming on earlier but music and an ice tea (wishing it were a Long Island ice tea!) is helping! We got this ladies

    Hi All

Back home for a couple of hours now. All went well. Some discomfort but not in any real pain which is great. Pain meds from surgery though still in my system. Sis is picking up my Tramocet RX soon. Worked great when I had the MX. Love that it's not an opiate. I have a small mound now YAY!

Solfeo and KickinBootay hope your procedures went smoothly. Sending healing vibes your way!

I'm home now, I stayed overnight because they had to keep me late because it took a while for me to wake up. It was weird, I could only talk one word at a time, lol. But after a few hours, I was eating dinner and ice cream. Everything went well, the procedure they did was a partial MX with tissue rearrangement, basically a reduction. I decided to wait on the reduction of the other breast, so now I'm a bit uneven. It took four hours and I had a bit of pain when I first woke up, and they gave IV pain meds, but since then, no pain, I haven't had to take any of my pain pills, which surprised me. The most painful part was before the surgery with needle localization, and not because of the needle, but getting my boob smooshed with the mammogram. I requested a Xanax the night before surgery because I had trouble sleeping a few nights before, so I actually slept the night before. Waiting for the surgery is the hardest part, once it was done, I felt better not having to stress about it.

Myleftboob, thank you for the tip, my only ER visit during chemo was from constipation, so I don't take it lightly anymore. I've taken two sennas and two colace, and still have mirilax going, lol. I'm glad to hear your surgery went well, and you are recovering good.

KickinBooty, I'm sending positive thoughts your way, you've got this. A long island sounds good about now. Hoping you have a speedy recovery.

solfeo, wishing you an easy surgery and quick recovery time.

I feel amazing!!!! No lymph node involvement super sore but the pain meds are working. So glad everyone's procedures went well. I look at what they took out of me and wonder how the heck my boobs look the same size still. I'm sure when the bandages come off and the swelling goes down it'll be a different story. Trying to not be a super control freak and do everything like normal so I can heal and heal well! Kisses and prayers my sisters! imageimage

I had a lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on Monday. Today, without even thinking, I lifted a heavy bookbag full of papers and books. For about 5-10 minutes afterward I felt a burning and sore sensation in the surgical area. Should I be worried? I feel okay now

Ladies: You go girls!! I have tremendous admiration for the courage and strength here. Keep up all the good work. You inspire me today and will on November 13, when scheduled for bilateral mastectomy w/SNB and recon. Thinking of all with hugs and good wishes.

Can I join? I have had a R lumpectomy Feb 2015 then started 4 rounds of AC chemo in March, well 3 because I couldn't manage the 4th... 12 rounds of Paclitaxel after that. Now just had BMX Sept 21. The plan was to have tissue expanders but the right side failed because of lack of perfusion to the skin. There is no more time for reconstruction because I start radiation in 2 weeks. Oct 15 I will be having my ovaries and tubes out as well as having some necrotic tissue removed from the right breast. Anyhow, we're all surgery of some type this month :)

Surgery went great. Very little pain, no opiates used during or after surgery and no complications. I was home by 6pm. She took 2 sentinel nodes and both were clear. Woohoo! I had a pectoral block with propofol only as the general anesthesia. I received the pre-incision injection of Toradol, and a Toradol prescription for post op pain relief. The block didn't start wearing off until around 9am this morning, and I only needed a little Tylenol for discomfort before that. I started the Toradol around 10 this morning, not because I really needed it but to keep the anti-inflammatory effect going for a few more days. No side effects so far.

I'm telling ya, avoiding the opiates in anesthesia and post-op really makes a difference compared to other surgeries I've had. No nausea or grogginess. Except for not having free use of my arms and a small amount of discomfort in the area of the SNB, I felt great walking out of there, just a little tired. I took it easy today and I feel back to normal. Finally having the surgery behind me after almost 10 weeks of waiting since the diagnosis: Priceless!

Glad everyone else is doing well, and best wishes to marion55 and smurfette26 today and tomorrow!

My sister just left. Going to miss being spoiled with her doing everything and making sure I took my afternoon naps and medication. It's Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and I got an invite to a friends for dinner tomorrow which is lovely, just a small gathering too and her daughter is doing all the cooking! In my family we typically do TG at either the in laws or friends that have a guilt free Christmas day together.

    KickinBootay

Wow that's alot of tissue! I gather they did skin sparing? How the heck did you manage to get that picture?!

CRS, glad to hear they kept you overnight for observation. That is a little weird yes, but you sound OK now.

091815, ooh that sounded sore. We forget don't we and try to do everything like it's no big deal. Hope it still feels OK.

Solfeo. Still take it easy though. The day after I felt amazing and went shopping etc on Thursday. I have to say though on Friday after my sister and I got back from lunch and visiting my Mom in her nursing home which was hardly taxing, I was just exhausted in the afternoon. Felt the same today around 2ish and had a 2 hour nap

Worst thing about a BMX is waiting for the surgery date.   Keep busy and it will all soon be behind you.   I had mine 5/19/15.  Had exchange this past Tuesday and feeling well.   Hope to keep hearing from you as you wait for nov 13!
