Gynatrof gel - anyone tried this for vaginal atrophy??

It is interesting to me that it is marketed as non-hormonal, but one of the main ingredients is hops, which is estrogenic according to the Sloan -Kettering herb website.

Maybe Sig will send us all some! Soy or even estrogen applied topically wouldn't be as readily absorbed systemically , I think. My doc's finally prescribed some estrogen cream for me, even at my very late stage. I rarely use it, but it was really helpful. Gyno- onc always thought it was ok, Mo's nurtz, not so much. But then, she never cared for any type of palliative meds for me...

I use Mountain Naturals paraben free Estriol cream. It costs 28 dollars on Amazon. Com. Really improved the vag dryness and also helped with incontinence issues that cropped up in the first year after I was thrown off the cliff abruptly into menopause.

Yes, helped with vaginal atrophy a good deal. Also helps immensely with comfort during sex. I was very sore until I got this cream. Initially used it intravaginaly and on the outside area as well daily for 14 days and then 2 to 3 times per week for a couple more weeks. Now I mostly maintain this by using it at bedtime once every week or two.

They threw me into menopause, my last menses was October 2012. I became suddenly really dry and it was worse while on tamoxifen. I started to have incontinence issues big time. Really embarrassing for me when I peed in my underwear when I couldn't make it to the toilet in time. I had very little warning that I had to go. Felt like one more in the endless sea of humiliation my life had become.

I haven't been on the boards in enough time that I forgot my username! It is a nice thought that life can go on without constant concern for breast cancer. I just reached my 5 year mark, and hope for more to come.

Unfortunately, while all other systems are a "go", I just found out that I am in menopause at 45. My numbers tanked. I haven't noticed much difference, except perhaps some "pinching" sensations. I wanted to note for you all that dilators are incredibly helpful in this regard. The lotions and potions don't address the actual shrinkage that occurs when estrogen tanks. They are an ultimate pain in the neck, I mean, seriously, who wants to bank time with this. But I have found them to be a good thing, and as much as anything a confidence booster. Also, this gel has what my holistic doctor recommended years ago: hyaluronic acid. As for the soy and other issues, I have read that plant estrogens do not absorb the same way. It is difficult, but I would fight my oncologist for Estrace or something else if it came down to it. Some of my friends have pretty severe quality of life issues, and those of us who went through chemopause early tend to get hit fast and hard.
