Hi,

I have noticed changes in my right breast over the past year and I am a bit worried. On the side of my breast near the arm pit I have some skin thickening. I actually never noticed it because it never hurt or bothered me, I kind of just noticed one day. It hasn't changed in size, it's kind of just an area of brownish looking thick skin with a shiny look and a rubbery feeling. Months later I noticed a very light reddish circle in the same breast, no pain or itchiness. That has now turned into a thickened, smaller area as well. I had an ultrasound done and nothing showed up. Doctor said it seemed to be just on the skin. I have no lumps or redness and no pain but I still worry. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Should I be worried?

I think if I were in your shoes I would make an appointment with a dermatologist. It might set your mind at rest. There are so many skin conditions that other doctors are not very versed in them. If a derm thought there was something else going on you would have a good referral.

Just to give comfort...an ultrasound is the best way to show superficial skin issues. It is very unlikely they would miss something suspicious. I have had something similar when I was wearing ill-fitting bras. Is the suspicious spot in an area that your favorite bra rubs on? It may help to buy a more supportive bra. Hope it helps
