Perhaps a little paranoid

I posted on here a few weeks ago after finding a small lump on my right breast. Went to GP and she referred me to Breast clinic. Breast clinic referred me to mammogram and u/s. At mammogram/ u/s appt on 8/12/15 radiologist confirmed what GP and breast clinic predicted...benign cyst. In addition to lump I found...numerous cysts were visible on u/s. Radiologist stated they were benign. I do not know the location of these cysts as reports state "scattered throughout both breasts" and I never even felt them. On 9/1/15 the biggest of the cysts (the one I initially felt) was aspirated. Fluid was sent to lab and results showed atypical ductal cells. Ended up having an excisional biopsy on 9/17/15 which thankfully showed benign. Fast forward to yesterday, I now feel a tiny lump on my left breast. Am I being paranoid? Could this be one of the many "scattered" cysts seen on u/s last month? I have been drinking a lot of caffeine as of late. Btw I'm 33. Please help calm my nerves. Thank you!

Hello, It is perfectly understandable that you should be a bit skittish after this latest experience. I've had two biopsies (both benign) but I now think everything must be the something that is wrong. It can't hurt to call the breast clinic and get it looked at just for peace of mind. Be nice, but firm. Don't let them put you off. Nothing is worse than letting something that turns out to be nothing ruin your days. Good luck.

fibrocystic breast disease is extremely common. My gyn told me the more cysts you have, the more likely they are to be benign, so if you have "numerous cysts scattered throughout both breasts" it is highly likely that they are benign. But having the ADH does increase your risk moderately, so stay vigilant with your mammos, CBEs, and self exams. It would be a good idea to cut out all caffeine for a few weeks and see if the lump shrinks in size or goes away, as caffeine can increase the formation of breast cysts. great news on the benign findings from your excisional biopsy.
