switching to Taxol

Hello. I'm feeling very frustrated. Due to the taxotere giving me GI problems the oncologist is thinking of switching me to taxol. I only had one more infusion with taxotere so now I will have three infusions of taxol instead. I was SO looking forward to being done on October 12! So please tell me what I have to look forward to with the taxol. Aside from the GI problems I had almost no side effects with the taxotere. Also, I was looking forward to feeling better by the last week in October since my 4th taxotere treatment would have been October 12. I assume that with three treatments of taxol through October I will still be feeling the effects of chemo late in October? Is each infusion milder since they are doing it weekly, or will I be feeling the chemo all the way through? And what about my hair? Will taxol kill the 10% of hair I have left that I've been clinging to? Grrrrrr.......

I can't compare taxol to taxotere as I've never had that one but I find taxol to be very easy to tolerate. There is a whole thread called "weekly taxol" that might be good for you to check out

Thanks for the response. How quick was your recovery from each taxol infusion? On taxotere I usually felt okay but weird and tired the first week, and pretty darn good the two weeks after that. Were you feeling pretty good at the end of the week after each taxol infusion? Like could go out to dinner feeling good? Or should I anticipate always feeling affected by the taxol for the whole stretch?
