Surgery delayed again and I'm starting to freak!

My mastectomy was delayed for the second time because I have a case of pneumonia that just won't clear up. Maybe. My PCP thinks the follow up x-ray showed residue from the first infection and is not true pneumonia. He has ordered a new x-ray for next week. He and the onco don't seem a bit concerned. PCP says mastectomy is elective surgery -- it has to be done but it's not an emergency that has to be dealt with RIGHT NOW THIS MINUTE. Both say I still have several months(The lump was discovered around July 1st). The surgeon, though, is really pushing things. He is very anxious to operate and he keeps mentioning the fact that the biopsy report says I have focal central necrosis. I looked this up and it does sound bad, very bad. I'm confused as to why these doctors have such a difference of opinion and I'm getting really scared the longer this drags on. Any words of wisdom?

    Hi EbonyEyes,

We are really sorry to hear about what you are going through. This sounds like a moment where your surgeon, oncologist and perhaps even the PCP should discuss. Your treatment team (surgeon and oncologist) should certainly get on to the same page.

Could you reach out to your surgeon and ask for this consultation to take place this week?
