What to expect when you're expecting...TE fills
Recovering from BMX with TE expanders on 8/12. I am due for my 1st fill this coming Thursday 9/3.
What is it like? Does it hurt? The pain was becoming manageable -- that is until I has my drains removed last Thursday 8/27. It was horrible, but the next day.... I wanted to report a hit and run of the truck that ran me over. Felt like I regressed. As the day wears on I feel worse..barely any sleep.
Just wanted to know what I'm facing now that I'm at the point of getting the fills.
Any suggestions, comments etc would totally rock!
Thanks!

Hi and congrats on no drains! The fills didn't really hurt. Are you numb across your chest? If so, you may not even feel the syringe. I did but it was a tiny pinch followed by pressure. I thought I could handle 50 Ccs at each fill but the first one totally Floored me so we backed it down to 30 Ccs once per week and I did so much better. Don't be afraid to take it slow. It truly wasn't too bad. I took some ibuprofen about a half hour before each fill and sometimes in the evenings following. I also had an Rx for a muscle relaxer and took that a few nights at bed time. Good luck, you're going to do great.

Numb across my chest (Ha....I wish).
I have 400cc capacity with 100 put in during surgery. Hopefully it won't be too long.
I soooo want off this Scary-go-Round

You and me both! I was filled to 320 Ccs. It took about 7 weeks or so and then I rested for 3 months and then had my exchange. The TEs were hard as rocks, like a coconut bra, I don't miss them much,

thanks for starting this thread. I just had BMX 7 days ago. Tomorrow is my first appt with nurse practitioner at PS office. Possible drain removal. Been pretty much planted on the recliner end of my couch since I got home a few days ago. Had Lat-flap on right side Bc of prior lumpectomy/rads there. Pain meds are doing ok but this sh-t hurts!!! How much cc can I expect each visit? I was a C/D cup.
