hello all. One of my daughters high school friends was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma and is undergoing 104 rounds of a very heinous chemo. He has severe nausea, not yet controlled with medication. Has anybody had success using marijuana oil rectally to help with nausea control? He is not adverse to vaping marijuana, but right now he is so nauseated he can't do it because of the smell. The best way we can figure to get it in him is rectally.

Any comment or thoughts are greatly appreciated. Or different ways to get it in his system that we haven't thought of. He is not opposed to traditional treatment either, just nothing has worked so far. I did suggest the Sancuso patch

Yes. Mmj works like nothing else for nausea!!!! The oil made me Ralph for 17 hrs straight when I took it orally, though. Poor guy. Is there anyway he could reduce the nausea even enough to take a hit? Even if he had to get bombed on Ativan first or something? Then, maybe he could get a little in his system from smoking, and be able to take it from there? Yeesh. I'm so sorry for him!!! Makes BC really seem like a walk in the park. Just curious, how was it diagnosed? My husband is waiting on pathology from some moles and is scared shitless...

Pain in his leg bones and back was how they diagnosed it. It had spread to his bones and lymph nodes by the time it was found, brain, lungs and liver not affected as far as they can tell. 37 years old, two kids, one of the nicest people I have ever met. Totally devastating. They have him on interleukin-2 chemo, and it is heinous. You have to have a certain physical condition to even try it. I can't even imagine 104 rounds of chemo, 13 doses at a time, one dose every 8 hours. Every three weeks. For six months. The chemo he is on causes blood to leak out internally through your vessels. First round he was able to do 11 of the 13 before his blood pressure got so low they had to stop. But it did shrink an infected lymph node by 50%.

We are having them try mixing the oil with DMSO which will get it into his body, and hoping that will be enough to get nausea under control so he can vape. Figured the butt is the best chance to get it into his system. Not sure what else to try. They have him on so many anti nausea and pain drugs he doesn't know if he is dreaming or awake.

Not wanting to be a downer, but I am desperately trying to figure out how to help him. I'm going to talk to his wife and see what anti nausea drugs they have tried so far.

Good to know don't orally ingest the oil.

As much crap as I have gone through, I know it it was nothing compared to what he is dealing with. And the treatment either works, or he dies. I've been so upset all day, can't think of anything else, so I've been on all the forums here for psychological reasons, this place is my touchstone.

Italy, I'm so, so sorry. I'm praying for him. Seriously, right now. There has to be a way! Maybe if he gets some in his system rectally he will be able to smoke more? Seems like it would be worth a try..

that's what we are hoping. I'm worried he will end up on a feeding tube because he can't hold anything down right now and is losing weight rapidly.

Thank god right now for goat testicles, coconut bras, and grass skirts, or I would be crying right now for the first time since my diagnosis. Not for me, but for him.

You and ksusan are seriously saving me today.

I second the Sancuso patch. It really worked for me and he doesn't have to keep anything down. It's expensive as hell. Let's hope his insurance company thinks he's worth it.

I hope so. His wife is pretty pushy, so if anybody can get it approved, she can

I am so sorry. For him, that he has to go through such devastating treatments and for you, that you have to see it happen without being able to "fix" it. I truly wish I could help. All I can think of is perhaps his wife taking a hit and blowing it into his mouth for him....kind of circumventing the smell. Gawd, this must be so hard. Can they maybe nebulize it somehow through a mask that covers just his mouth and not his nose so he can get a little?

that's an excellent question. I will ask her to try that technique. I hadn't thought of that. I have one of those masks for giving CPR without making mouth contact, maybe that would work. You put it over the persons mouth and blow in a tube

Marijuana 100% removed my nausea and sensitivity to smell.

Here is a post of my experiences using Medical Marijuana to treat nausea and fatigue that was caused by chemotherapy (AC).

It's been about a month since your original post. Did you end up giving your daughter's friend the cannabis? How did he ingest it?

I would lay out a few buds with several options of ingestion.

If it is smoked the chemo patient will have the most immediate relief of the chemo side effects.

he does have the liquid form, but not sure if he used it. They finally figured out his calcium had gotten really high and they flushed him like crazy with IV solution, and he is doing much better now.

    Thanks for checking in!
