I was diagnosed with a 0.7 invasive mammary. Stage 1 Mucinous carcinoma ER positive HER2 neu shows I. It was very small and lymph nodes.were clear. Bothmyself and my oncologist thought the treatment would be radiation and then tamoxofin however my onctotype dx came back as 19. Now we're talking about a chemo regime of 3 months with the drugs taxotere and cytoxan. Some of the side effects of the cytoxan sound harsh one of which is.the possibility that it may cause another cancer. I would appreciate anyone's input on this

Sympathetic hugs are being sent your way, Swill. Ms. V.R. holds the distinction of having a wealth of knowledge on mucinous (link below), but I'll share with you what I've learned.

First ask your surgeon for a baseline MRI, if you already haven't had a pre-surgical MRI scan. According to the M.D.Anderson study, Dr Perkins stated that 38% of mucinous cancer is multi-focal, much of which did not show itself in ultrasound and mammograms. Read more:

I've read that about 11% of mucinous carcinoma has been misdiagnosed, so it's always good to get a 2nd opinion on pathology. It's also helpful to know if your mucinous is of the "pure" or "mixed" (mixed with IDC-NST, no special type) conventional variety. It's also worthwhile to know whether your mucinous invasion was a single focus or multi-focal? Were you strongly ER+ PR+?

You'll get more responses if you post on the mucinous thread linked above, but allow me to be the first to welcome you.

I have had stage 1 Mucinious as well, instaed of doing an onco type, they did a mammoprint. That gives you either high or low risk instead of a number that can become a further gray area. And I didn't end up needing chemo. It's gonna be radiation and hormone blocking pills for me.
