Neuropathy - Taxol
Did you have neuropathy from Taxol? Did it get better?
I'm on DD Taxol. I've had some tingling in my index fingers. It's not terrible and doesn't affect my ability to do things. I mentioned it at my last treatment and my doctor reduced my dose by 20%. She said if it got worse she would possibly cancel my last treatment. I do not want that at all. Her concern is permanent neuropathy. I'd say it's about the same although there are moments that it is more tingly than before.

Hi TamKay, I think it's very important you communicate your symptoms to your MO in a very accurate and detailed manner; it is also very good you have an MO who listens to your feedback.I had 12 weekly doses and still my dosage had to be reduced about 12% starting from my 3rd week because of elevated liver enzymes. I also got some neuropathy by the end and was offered to skip the last one or two sessions. I did carry till the end but I was only getting 70 units (instead of standard 80) per treatment. Unfortunately, neuropathy may be permanent and both patients and their doctors are walking a fine line here that is hard to define. I would stay on the cautious side and if you have questions or concerns about dose reduction please talk to your MO; I think s(he) will be able to explain why such dose reductions should have no or minimal risk for treatment outcomes. As always, it's all about weighing risks vs benefits.

I finished in late June. I still have it in my fingertips and feet. It had been worse at one point and has improved from the worst it had been, but it's been the same for 3 months and MO said it could take many months for it to improve.
Oh, I actually finished taxol almost 6 months ago, finished last of a/c in late June.

Thanks for the feedback. I had my last treatment on Monday. I conveyed to my doctor that I felt the sensation had remained the same. The interesting thing is that I haven't had any numbness or tingling feeling in the past two days.
