For those who have finished tamoxifen and had hot flashes throughout, how long did it take after stopping tamoxifen for the hot flashes to go away? I stopped recently but am still having hot flashes. Wondering what everyone else's experience was.

I didn't stop Tamoxifen but did take a 3 month break. I noticed the intense hot flashes were gone about a week after I stopped it. I'm 56, so I'm still having some hot flashes, but they are SO minor compaired to when I was on the Tamox. I just started back on the Tamox yesterday, so I'm waiting for them to start back up strong again soon

Thanks. Anyone else? I've been off for a couple weeks now and still having hot flashes (although not as severe). Is that normal?

When I stopped tamoxifen a few years ago, my hot flashes did get worse for awhile, but then eventually settled down. I think all the hormonal fluctuations from coming off of it caused the hot flashes to worsen, until my body got used to being without it.

I am still on tamox, but I have noticed that the hot flashes wax and wane with the change of seasons (and that's not metaphorical lol). With the cooler temps of fall arrived, my hot flashes are through the roof. It's 45 degrees at night, but I'm naked with no blankets and a fan. I know however, that this will subside until my body gets used to it. I'll go through it again around Christmas when temps really plummet.

I think, and frankly I hope, that tamoxifen stays in our systems longer tan a few weeks. So it's not alarming that you are still experiencing this SE. I'm pretty sure someone one said it can take a few months. But I think that's worse case scenario. Sorry =(

Mine have gotten terrible the past couple days, that's interesting about the changing seasons, I wonder if that's it? Just really hope they go away soon and this isn't permanent :[
