does anyone mind sharing how long it took from meeting your consultant to actual surgery, I have the brac1 gene and I am going crazy waiting thanks all

    I was diagnosed on April 3rd and had surgery June 1st. A month or two between is typical.

    We are doing surgery after chemo, so I am expecting to have surgery sometime in March.

    I had my routine mammo April 13th, repeat April 22nd, biopsy April 24th, met with the surgeon April 29th, MRI (for further planning) May 7th, surgery May 20th. It seemed like a whirlwind.

    So to answer your question, a little over 5 weeks

    lumpectomy one week after biopsys

    Surgeon had a opening, hospital had a opening....faster than most, I think.

    One week later had port placed.

    I had my mammogram on March 3, 2nd mammogram and ultrasound March 5, biopsy March 8, I got the results by phone March 11 and saw the surgeon that afternoon, PS the next day, mastectomy March 26. Both surgeons had openings and it was that day or 3 weeks later, I did not want to wait. Chemo and all those appointments started May 1.

    I had 52 days from biopsy results to lumpectomy, 44 days from lumpectomy to mastectomy and tissue expander placement, and 90 days from bmx and te placement to exchange surgery.

    The long times between were due to scheduling issues for three doctors (BS, PS, anesthesiologist) as well as operating room availability. The breast surgeon assured me early on that we had time to make the scheduling work. There wasn't a need to rush. It worked for me.
