Hi there! My mom is 62 years old was just diagnosed with stage II Invasive lobular carcinoma. Her tumor is about 8 cm long. I want to switch her from her regular Medical group to either UCLA, USC or City of Hope but we're having a very hard time deciding. Her insurance is accepted at all three hospitals so financially it doesn't make a difference. We live in the San Fernando Valley so even though City of Hope is a bit further for us, all three locations are relatively the same distance when you factor in traffic. Has anyone had any experience with these hospitals? Doctor recommendations? My parents are struggling with the diagnosis so I'm having to make all the medical decisions myself and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed
Thank you!

gely929, I also see Dr Waiman at City of Hope. He is a Rock Star life saving God!
I have also heard very good things about UCLA. I live 10 minutes from UCLA but travel 50 minutes to COH for my rock star oncologist.
Good luck foryour mom.

hello I'm in Pomona/Claremont area. As soon as we can get out past stay home stuff...can be fun to go to dinner or brunch in Pasadena. Lots of good places there. Also Arcadia has a great mall benihana and others are there. So maybe in like 3-4 weeks we will be able to do this. Know I need to get out and enjoy the early summer weather too. Lmk I'm free early in the week usually Monday thru wednesday.

Hello out there to the ladies in LA area. I just moved back to SoCal from Seattle area and retired. Just signed up at City of Hope with Dr. Waisman. Is this group still active or just quiet since 2015? I am between treatment arms, Kisqali and Letrozole were my first line, and after 40 cycles I progressed in my bone mets. I live in So Pasadena area and would love to connect with some of you too.

I am not aware of any activity with the group. We met a couple of times several years back. I go to City of Hope, but for treatment of my lung cancer, which I developed about 3 years after my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. The breast cancer seems to be resolved, but i am stage 4 with my lung cancer. I live in WLA area but commute to COH.
