Thanks for the warm welcome! I think feisty is a good word for me. I have always been one of those hands on hips, wide stance women who doesn't put up with fools and laughs at my own foibles (which are many).

Welcome Mags.
I led an Audubon fieldtrip to Duluth this weekend to attend the Hawk Ridge Festival. We saw over 2000 Broad winged Hawks and 39 Bald Eagles fly over the ridge in an hour. Beautiful sunny weather. Highlight bird this morning was a Parasitic Jaeger who flew right over us putting on a show harassing the gulls.
I didn't take this photo, but it's what a Parasitic Jaeger looks like.

-
Well, that is an interesting bird -- I'll go have to look him up.

Puffin, what beautiful weather for your field trip to Duluth. Looks like we'll have two more perfect days and then the rain may start on Wed. We need to take our 1-ton truck to the Ford place tomorrow for attention to a wheel. This afternoon we'll take the boat out of the water and bring it here to the campsite. On Wed. we take it to the marine business where it will be shrink-wrapped for the winter. I'll take a picture and post it.
Our day for departure will probably be Sun. It will be good to get home but I'm already missing summer in MN in my mind.
First things first. Off to the gym this morning.
Happy Monday.

Befriending the life in others is sometimes a complex matter. There are times when we offer our strength and protection, but these are usually only temporary measures. The greatest blessing we offer others may be the belief we have in their struggle for freedom, the courage to support and accompany them as they determine for themselves the strength that will become their refuge and the foundation for their lives. I think it is especially important to believe in someone at a time when they cannot yet believe in themselves. Then your belief will become their lifeline. -Rachel Naomi Remen

Good Morning everyone,
How are you doing this morning Mags314? Hope it will be a grand day for everyone. We are starting out cool. Our nights get downright chilly most of the time now. The lawn and trees are getting a tired look and some beginning leaves have even left the trees, while there are others that have a brownish/gold cast which will continue what is fairly minor right now.
Carole, sounds like there is plenty to do ( even though it won't entail pulling/towing your house, home ) for you up till your departure day. Partly I guess dealing with your boat. Is there anything special you will need to do to your home and deck. Still thinking of the deck as such a good idea --- as it does I think give the appearance of a permanent home. I'd probably be sad as well -- but then I think La does get a lot of 'warmer' weather if I recall correctly things you have said in the past before Fall kicks in really well.
Nothing much on for today but some of the usual things. I need to go to Mickie's this morning --- but I won't stay as long as there are things that need doing here at home and I have agreed to help her out when my BIL goes away for a few days. That will be double duty as she needs to go to her house at least twice a day to feed her kitties that lost their mother. Big hopes that her furnishings will soon be returned to the house ( Serv-Pro cleaned all the smoke smell ) and with that, she should be able to leave the motel where she has been staying and go home. I think if no before BIL leaves, then hopefully a couple of days after.
See you all later when I check in again.
Blessings,
Jackie

Good morning,
Got up and it was 46 out! Fall may finally be here. I got ambitious and exchanged the summer with fall clothes. Left a few short sleeves, just in case! Another beautiful sunny day.
Off to lunch at our senior group. Have food and they will come.
Going to try and get an ortho appt to see what my options are for my knee. Since I got tripped in April it had gotten worse, used to occasionally catch or slip, now that is much more frequent. Hoping I don't end up having to do a replacement. I've read about a gel treatment. Need to do some more research on that. Got to keep the doctors in business! Have a blessed day, Jean

Parasitic Jaeger feeding behavior:
This species steals food from other seabirds such as terns, puffins and gulls. The jaeger attacks the bird in mid-air, harassing it and forcing it to drop or regurgitate its prey in flight. Jaegers may sometimes attack their victims in small groups and chase down the poor bird which regurgitates its food.
-
They sound rather a nasty bunch don't they Puffin. They look a bit large which I think would square with the size of a lot of the water/sea birds. Their wings remind me of hawks wings. The tail seems noteworthy as a bit unusual but may not be. Although I like birds -- I've never really studied them so all of this is just observation.

A life of love is difficult, but it is not a bleak or unrewarding
life. In fact, it is the only true human
and happy life, for it is filled with concerns that are as deep as life, as
wide as the whole world, and as far reaching as eternity. It is only when we have consented to love,
and have agreed to forget ourselves, that we can find our fulfillment. This fulfillment will come unperceived and
mysterious like the grace of God, but we will recognize it and it will be
recognized in us. -John Powell -

The wheel on the Ford truck is repaired to the tune of $250. So it should be good to drive to Louisiana.
DH winterized the Yamaha outboard this afternoon. Tomorrow morning he will take boat and motor to be shrink-wrapped for the winter.
We played our last round of golf for summer of 2015 in MN. I cleaned the golf clubs this afternoon.
Lovely day with high in the mid 60's. The weather at home has been nice this week, too, with a high in the 80's.
Hope everyone had a good day.
-
Just to much cuteness to ignore!!

-
Aw --- many times.
Glad the wheel of your truck Carole is ready to take you where you need to go. It has been pretty ok around here weather-wise the last few days. Some un-likable weather will still happen, but we are pretty much into the period where nothing stays so long that you get miserable. That's a bonus for sure. Bout ready to give this up and go find my recliner. See you all in the a.m.

Mornin everyone,
I can't believe it has taken me so long to get back here after I accidentally deleted my last post. And of course I have no memory of what I said. I got back to Ga on Sun afternoon. Everyone was so happy to see me. I know they are genuinely happy I am here, but with me comes food ( meals and snacks), drinks, and catch up stuff. For example, Andrew needs a new shoulder piece for his violin, Michael's eyeglasses are being held together with painters tape, etc. This trip is a little different because, on Oct 16th, if all goes well, I will be selling this house to them. That has always been the plan, and they finally qualify for a mortgage. As with all home sales, there have been little glitches - for example, Scott was calling yesterday to switch the insurance to his name. He called Geico, which I am assuming is where they have their car insurance. For the same coverage I have for just over $800/yr, they want over $5000/yr. Their is no way they can afford that. So we will see what happens. Can't wait till the appraiser comes today and finds out both the buyer and seller are already living here.
I think I have already told you that my youngest daughter - the one who asked if her and her two kids could live with me for a year- is pregnant. I went with her for the first sonogram. It was supposed to be an internal one where you can just see the heartbeat but she is about 3 weeks further along than she thought, so it was a regular full sonogram. The baby's hands moved and the whole body stretched. No matter what the circumstances, that is an awesome sight. Jamie has agreed to wait till I get back to have the sonogram to find out the sex, which will only be a week or two beyond the earliest date possible.
That said, I had her other two from Thurs to Sat before I left. They moved in to the warehouse. It is not a studio above the warehouse as I was led to believe, they are actually living in a warehouse. Her husband has put up some temporary walls and built a temporary kitchen- it has a sink and a countertop. They bought a second hand refrigerator, and have a two-burner hot plate and are buying a countertop little oven. As far as I could tell from the pictures on line, you can cook a whole chicken in it, but no casseroles or biscuits. So, there are 4 1/2 people, 2 cats, a very large dog who has never been an inside pet, and some kind of hydroponic fish farm living in the warehouse along with Phil's business of customizing video game controls. He has, by the way, taken a full month off for the move. Just hope his supplier doesn't find someone else. Jamie says the good news is that the warehouse has central air- their house didn't - the bad news - it has NO windows, not one!!
Tracy is back to work finally, after 11 weeks in a wheelchair. She is also back to her old Negative Nellie outlook on life in general. She saw her surgeon on Mon and he said if the pin doesn't break by the time he sees her again in a month, they will have to surgically remove it. Then the day I went to the Dr with Jamie, we no sooner got their than Tracy called me to pick her son up from school. He had an exceptionally rapid heartbeat. I told her I would go as soon as Jamie was done. Jamie had already asked me to pick her two up from school that day, because of the move, and they thought the closing. It happened to be an early release day, so the kids got out at noon. We picked Dougie up about 11:15, dropped Jamie off, had just enough time to get Dougie home before going to pick up the other two. By the time I got them home, Tracy had made an appt for Dougie with the pediatrician who is a half hour away. So me and the three kids trooped out to the Drs. She has no idea what is causing it, says it could be the meds he takes for ADHD, which she really doesn't think, cause he's been on them for 4years and hasn't even increased the dosage in a year, or it could be hormones, or something else. He is seeing a cardiologist tomorrow.
Guess you can see why I don't post very often, and then, when I do, they tend to be very long. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers for the next couple of weeks, cause I have appts with all my cancer Drs, my GYN and a dermatologist. I feel okay, just can't help being nervous.
Hugs to all,
Anne

Anne, you definitely will be in the prayer list. It sure does sound like your life is full of struggles, either yours personally, or your family's. I hope you can get through your house sale without issues. We get our house Ins. though U.S.A.A. and seems to me it is roughly $1,000.00 per yr. --- or less than a $100.00 per month. My BIL when he moved to his house in town had U.S.A.A., but switched to Liberty Mutual saying it was cheaper. We haven't ever gotten a quote from them as we feel confidence in U.S.A.A. and that they would pay claims quickly -- although we haven't had a claim. We are happy with their chgs. as well with were much lower than The Hartford which is what we previously had. We heard a number of stories about The Hartford not paying claims well at all and we didn't want to face that if and when we ever did ( praying we never do ) have to file.
We have car insurance with U.S.A.A. and as well, their rates are much lower and better coverage than what we previously had with Hartford. We originally got Hartford through AARP, and had it for a number of yrs. Since we basically never had any reason to file a claim --- it was only later when we started hearing they didn't seem to like to pay claims that we decided to switch. I'm sure there much be many insurers out there. I think many people went to Geico yrs. ago as they would insure people who has issues ( too many claims, too many tickets, etc. ) and I would think in the interim prices and rules have likely changed a fair amt.
Here's hoping that you will get some good resolutions to the Ins. problem, and your grandson and that everything else smooths out better while your dealing with the larger items.

Anne, you are definitely deserving of sainthood putting up with all the demands from your children. I think they take advantage of you. I know you enjoy the family relationships but you deserve a life, too.
I wish we didn't have to pay so much for auto and house insurance. Louisiana is a bad home state when it comes to insurance.
Today started out as a nasty rainy day but cleared up. DH took the boat to be shrink wrapped. After he returned I went back to town for a 12:30 hair apptment. I have a nice short cut that should last me 5 weeks.
When I got back here to the camper, dh was rearranging furniture in the living area. Now the sofa is where the two recliners were positioned and the recliners are where the sofa was! It's nice to have a change.
Greetings to everyone. Hope you had a good 1st day of fall.
-
Good morning, all. It's not a pretty morning, rather gloomy but should clear up later. We have the little electric heater humming in the living room/kitchen of the camper to take the chill off. This morning we plan to go to the gym and then have breakfast.
Happy Thursday (?) to all.

Mornin' all
Just a quickie to let you know I will be on the move again today. On my way to SC to spend some face-to-face time instead of FaceTime with Lucia, and help celebrate her Daddy's birthday. Will be back Tues for Dr appts Wed, Thurs and Fri, and more the following week.
It was 2years ago today that I was Dx.

Well, I'm finally back to expand just a bit on where things are. I'm back at work for now at my friend's ---- the one who had the attic fire almost two months ago now. We are beginning to re-wash and put all the kitchen things back in that room. Mickie probably won't be able to do a whole lot. She I think, often is struggling with energy issues. She also has diabetes Type 2 and has had two bouts of cancer ( no breast cancer ). She also has lots of arthritis. I don't mind that so much --- I will go back when I take her home in the next coming days ---- wash and dry etc. then stack and she can put it all away. I am a bit selfish I guess, but I don't want to drag things out longer than need be. So, I don't mind that she goes back to the motel --- but I need to soldier on and get done what I can so am not tied up too long for my job and caring for things at my house.
Otherwise -- my car has been back in the shop for a fuel pump this time. I'm starting to fret but so far just mildly. I hope to get the car later today -- hopefully before I go to work at 5:30 p.m. Since Mickie has to be at her house twice a day --- Dh, if my car isn't available will be taking me to work, going after Mickie, then staying with her until she gets her night time chores handled --- then maybe coming back to where I work and picking me up. We just have to do what we have to, to make it all work out right.
The weather is just super really. Just mildly cloudy which really suits us. It is too hot either, even with the sun out full so is my cup of tea for sure. Sort of slow for a Friday but I don't mind. Up-side of working today ---- I'll be off ( though working at Mickie's ) until Tues. but that means tomorrow I won't have to cut Saturday short for getting more work done at Mick's. Without my car as yet, and not knowing if today would be my work day --- I didn't stay at Mick's as long as I would have. So, tomorrow should go well.
Anyway, I'll be looking back in later as I always do. See you all then.

Congrats, Anne. May you have many more.
Jackie, the weather is beautiful. I think your weather gets here about 36 hours later. This is my favorite time of year.
Had a good MO checkup and scheduled another mammo for January.,,,,,I'm not complaining!!!
I don't comment often, but I do keep reading your posts. Best to all!

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't
come as a result of getting something we don't have,
but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

Good morning,
Starting out cloudy here and that is ok with me. We likely will hold onto our slightly cooler temps. which won't bother me. Some rain may reach us coming more from an easterly direction ( it is more often from the west ) but we may be far enough up not to get it. Will just have to wait and see.
Back today to my friend's. Hoping to make some real progress even if I do it after I've taken my friend back to her motel. I just don't want to be too slow with all of this. Need to carve out some time for 'my' projects too. I think her furniture ( cleaned and stored by Serv-Pro ) will start arriving back at her house on Wednesday. I think too that is the limit of the time she had left in the motel. I think it has been a long two months for her. Anyway --- thinking to try and get this kitchen project done with and move on.
Linda and Mags -- how are things with you ladies. Hope you can pop in and let us know.
Carole, it's close ( I think you mentioned tomorrow ) to your return to La. I sure hope all goes well. At least it sounds like most of the weather along you way shouldn't be too bad. Maybe you will have good fortune and weather will be good when you do arrive back home. I still think it is really hard to tell a lot of the times ( climate changes ) just what we will have. Our summer seemed fairly un-predictable here --- and actually wasn't near as bad as I thought it might be. We have had summers where the high humidity made you start to drip almost the minute you stepped outside. So --- in that way we had it pretty good this yr.
Fall continues ( so far not too fast ) to progress and soon we will have to start clearing the driveway every day I think. That will lead into all of that work that has to be done with the falling leaves and nuts in the yard. We have a lawn sweeper but Dh doesn't like using it. It gets too heavy with all the nuts and so it has to be emptied often. Well, to me, I'd do it anyway. I've told him to pick out a few places near the ravines and just park all that stuff at the edge and then we could take blowers and blow it in from there. He may still see it as too tedious.
Well, thank goodness my car is back on the road. Wow !!!!! That was difficult trying to do all I do from a truck --- food bags and cans stuck behind the seat as two people are using the seats so no room the and none on the floor either. I have been fortunate that my car/truck ( it's a Blazer that sits on a truck chassis ) has run so well. It is a 2004 and has to date only had batteries and oil changes. Just recently I had to have an alternator and now the fuel pump. Hope that is it for awhile. I'm just tickled to be able to come and go as needed and sure makes it easier for work and ferrying my friend back and forth to her house while my BIL is gone to Iowa.
Hope you are all going to have a great Saturday. I'll be back later to check in again.
Blessings

Happy Belated Birthday, Jackie!
I thought I had lost all of you or been banned from this thread for some strange reason. I have not been able to pull it up from the menu and finally saw where Jackie had posted under Active topics and clicked on it. That did the trick. I just added it to my favorites.....or learned how to do that, being the wonderful technology person that I am not!!!!...so I think I'll be good to go now.
Puffin, I would have loved your Audubon trip as I'm a big nature geek. We always went over to the Mississippi River town every year to see the Eagles. There are several lovely birds in Florida and I'm trying to learn their names and a bit about them.
Well the golf season is winding down and this past week we had our closing dinners for the leagues. My schedule will clear considerably now and I have mixed reactions to that. I love the golf gals and the game but will enjoy having a few more days free to explore other options. We are now bowling on Tuesday mornings. Life is good.
Welcome to mags and lindab and anyone else I missed giving a welcome I am ehind on my reading here and need to get caught up again.
Just wanted to give another try at finding this thread again and wanted to say Hi to everyone. We are leaving in about an hour to go to Clinton, Illinois to their Apple and Pork Festival.....lots of craft booths and wonderful food. I enjoy the Fall festivals and always seem to find some new exciting ideas.
-
Good morning, all. Congrats to Anne and anyone else with positive news. Hi to Rita. We stayed at an rv park in Clinton years ago and ate at a Mexican restaurant there. I bought two mugs that were only $1 apiece and we use them at home.
Today is another mild day, amazing weather for the last weekend in Sept. Looking at the weather channel, we may be headed to rain when we arrive home.
I would have finished up and headed home today, but dh wanted to stay until tomorrow morning. I have most of my packing up done. In addition to doing that yesterday, I got down on hands and knees and cleaned an area of carpet in the main room of the camper. We had decided not to rent a carpet cleaner until next spring. The cleaned area looks good. Today I plan to clean the refrigerator and eliminate anything we won't be packing into the cooler.
Jackie, you're a very good friend. I can empathize with your wanting to get your friend back into her house so you can get on with your projects.
Happy Saturday .
