Yes - I was bruising easily. However, you can easily reduce the dosage and find a dosage that is right for you and does not cause bruising. Try taking the dosage you are currently taking every other day. This may help.

    Hi annwalk:

I would not alter the dose or frequency of any drug without first speaking to the prescribing oncologist. Various drugs behave differently, and some drugs will lose efficacy below a certain dose, due to their pharmacokinetics.

Nor would I alter the aspirin dose without consultation if it was prescribed

Just as a clarification for anyone who may read this, I was not suggesting the dose reduction of Arimidex, but SOLELY of low dose aspirin which is an OTC medication. It is very common to be taking a low dose aspirin every other day as opposed to every day, as studies have shown that the "every other day" regimen is as (or more) effective for recurrence reduction. My Onc has said that it is perfectly acceptable to modify the aspirin dosage to make sure that bruising is minimized. Bruising is an extremely common side effect of aspirin use.

I'm on tamoxifen, not arimidex, but had been taking aspirin 3x a week, but dropped down to 2x a week because of easy bruising, and that seems to have fixed it.

    Thank you, youngturk, NYC,

I appreciate your comments. I'm glad to hear that it's just as effective to take the aspirin every other day. The bruise I had that alarmed me was on my forearm, so large that it spread from nearly my wrist to elbow! I don't remember hurting myself, either, except that I was carrying heavy buckets of gravel and was doing some intense weeding. Since then, I noticed a bruise was formed on my finger just holding a power tool.

I had my blood tested today. My doctor told me that I probably didn't have anything to worry about, but of course I am worried.
