Hi gals, I was wondering if you all hold off on MLD and compression for a couple of days after getting a flu shot? I can't remember if I did that last year or not. I know it made my left arm pretty sore for a couple of days. Also IF the shot causes a mild fever should I definitely not do MLD or compression? Just wondering since they say to not do MLD/compression if you have an infection to avoid spreading it. My MLD sheet says not to do that stuff even if you have a cold. I know the shot doesn't cause the actual flu but mild temp can be a side effect. Thanks for any insight!! XO

Flu shots should be given in the thigh or butt when there is an arm issue.

I have to work on this every year since it's not always easy to find someone who is comfortable doing it in the thigh. It's easiest for me to get it at my internal med docs office

I don't get flu shots due to albumin and egg allergies, which are common vaccine ingredients, so have not had to worry about this although I also have bi-lat LE. Have you considered FluMist so it can be given intranasally?

Thanks for the responses ladies! I should have clarified I only have truncal Lymphadema on the right side which is the side the cancer was on. It does cause my right armpit to swell though. I don't get any needle sticks, IV's, blood pressure cuffs or anything on that side. The left arm is fine. The shot just makes it sore for a few days so I don't feel like doing the MLD since I use that arm to massage the right side. Sorry I was in a bit of a rush this morning when I typed the question.
