INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Gosh Jazzy - do many people in NM know what calamari is? Sounds like a lot of NE transplants - calamari, lobster rolls, crab cakes. My MO hedged this time saying maybe 10 years on AI (almost 3.5 down). Heck I'll be 70 then. Not sure it's worth it. Eyes/bones going south.
Chevster - we went thru a piriformis tutorial not long ago here courtesy of Sassy. Went on a Search - was August 20th. Leave it to you to get a butt strain lol. But seriously glad it's not worse. Speaking of heating pad I bought a heated throw yesterday at WallyWorld. Lady behind me wanted to know if I was expecting cold weather soon. No but I waited last year thinking they would go on sale. NOOO. They disappeared after Christmas. So I promised myself the 1st one I saw I was buying.
Rosie - sounds like all the good came together today. Yay.
MammaRay - prayers that the rads will work on your compromised shoulder. Your little one is so cute on his bike.
-
I use my heated throw as a bottom sheet. You're gonna love it!!
-
Going to put my feet up in a bit and do some reading for fun, not for class. Just about killed myself in a 20 minute workout a bit ago
-
Luvmygoats- oh yes, we do know all about calamari and other seafood here. There are a lot of east coast transplants here, north of me in Rio Rancho is a very large community of New Yorkers. There are a couple places in the city that do a fried calamari justice, but I doubt at the fair would have been very good.
-
Ms. Smaaarty, beautiful quilts!! Bummer that they disqualified one of yours....pretty still.
MammaRay, cute pic of your boy. Love to see what he looks like from the front
Mmmmm.....calamari. On second thought, never mind NM is no where near the ocean.
"Strained butt" haha... You always come up with the most interesting names. Had it a few weeks ago. Bonepain in hip and lower back now. I finally gave in and agreed to do XRay.
Rose, finally something goes right for you. Question,if your albumin in the ascites fluid is normal, then does that mean that there is no portal hypertension? I thought that diuretics are not as affective in ascites without portal hypertension (commonly seen in cirrhotic ascites).
-
Last of the quilts.
-
Oh My Smaarty. Those are just stunningly beautiful.
I may plug it in soon. My love seat designated spot to sit is directly under the vent. Last week I drug out a ratty bathrobe and wrapped up in that, over my shorts, T shirt. I have no shame lol.
-
Nice job Smarty. I saw some quilts at the state fair in the creative arts building yesterday and thought of you!
-
They are a great idea, but. I found dealing with the cord and the control to be a real hassle with my recliner and the other necessary "stuff" I need close. That's why it's a bottom sheet now. Spookie doesn't burrow so I don't worry about her being on it.
We don't have central heat or A/c, so I keep a small heater pointed at me when it's cool enough to need it. That way I don't have to turn the big unit on to heat the whole house. DH doesn't complain about the electric bill either. The a/c stays on, can deal with cooler. Hot flashes are good for something too.
-
My friend gave me a fleece zip up that has legs. I look like an umpha loompa but I'm nice and toasty.
I really am now. Hot flashing. Will it be worse after they remove my ovaries and switch me to an AI?
Good luck with the bum pain. I would go to PT.
Awesome quilts. Very talented.
Rosie. So glad you feel good!
-
Bit sore from the workout last night so I'm going to do a lot of relaxing today
-
So Loverly... what did the X-rays tell you? And you can't do exercises until it is much better, right? Glennie, I wonder if I can take another 650 mg of Tylenol in between the times I take a 5mg of oxycodone, and the 325mg of Tylenol? I took the 2 together at 2:30 this morning, and it really helps... but like now at 5:30, it's hurting again...... I know I can't take them again this soon..... I think later I'll call the Pharmacy and ask ......
How long does this take for that muscle to get better? I should have asked.... I feel like such a baby with this! But that pain just makes you want to SCREAM or cry or kick a hole through the wall... except that would hurt... When I was waiting for the prescription, I wanted to tell them "Can't you guys just SNAP IT UP A LITTLE??? I was ready to crawl over the counter and get them myself!
Man, I'll never get myself in THIS shape again......I thought it hurt when I broke my hip! This pain is twice as bad....
Smarty, I can't believe those quilts! So colorful! I have made a lot of little crochet afghan's and throws... AND donated a lot.... I could cover our walls with all that I have made...Ha!
I have a fleece warmer.... I love it at night, curled up on the sofa, watching TV! Won't be long till I get it out.... along with the electric blanket... I have the BEST heating pad now.... Better than the cheaper ones I had.. Even my Grandma's old one, AND my folks ... I KNOW! I should get rid of them... before I start an electrical fire....... but WAIT.... then the firemen would come.... right? You always have to think things out.....
-
Sorry for the confusion. PCP told me a few weeks ago that I should have my hip/back XRay given the history of BC to rule out you know what. I didn't want to do it at the time because I thought that it was getting better. Also, I didn't want to expose myself to unnecessary radiation (not good if you carry TP53 mutated gene). Sent an email to doc yesterday to put in the order, after much thinking. There is no other option but to go ahead with the XRay to see what is going on. I still play badminton, but not as many sets. I usually pay the day after.
Regarding the Tylenol, you can take two of 325 mg (if needed) every 4 hours as long as you don't exceed 3000mg in 24 hours. If you come close to 4000mg,make sure you let your DOC know. Risk of liver toxicity close to 4000mg/day. With advanced age, you need to be careful with meds because the liver and kidneys are not as efficient in metabolizing and removing drugs. Did Doc say ok for you to continue with Aleve? If yes, then you can take it with the Tylenol and oxycodone

Hello Ladies. Popping in to say hiyas. I had my last taxoterrible 28 days ago and finally have had 2 good days in a row. Been taking it easy the last 4 weeks and am eager to get on with life. Bah I have gained 10 pounds since starting chemo and hope to get rid of that now that I am feeling better.
Things taste better now so it may take me a bit longer to get rid of the wegith..of course i have to taste everything again.
-
Hi Frey- good to hear from you. I am glad you have been recovering and taking care of yourself. I hope you can find yummy foods to eat.
I eased into exercise after everything. Swimming and walking were easiest for me after treatment. Did more with time. It takes awhile so be patient with yourself.
Loverly- fingers crossed on the X-ray. Sounds like the hip pain is lingering so you need to know. Also good to be careful about not having too much for rads.
Chevy- I was at a wedding last year with a friend whose husband is a fireman. Lots of hot fireman to dance with at the reception. It was awesome! Hubba hubba!
-
Oh my goodness!!! I was thinking( I do most of my thinking in the shower, which is usually less than 10 minutes) about you last night Freyfrey and was wondering how you were doing. Glad to hear you are starting to feel like human again. Boo to the weight gain.
Thank you Jazzy. As long it's not..,I am happy. Sad huh?
-
hey Frey. Yipee! Is there a Livestrong program near you? It's free personalized program for cancer patients. You probably have to wait until Jan to start. Whats the best thing you've tasted?
-
Dear Zometa, What the hell? We've been going together for a whole year. Will you please stop trying to kick my ass? That is entirely unnecessary and really a little bit mean. I see you once a month and sit quietly (sorta) while opening my heart, vein AND bloodstream to you. Isn't that enough? I will give you one more year then I'm divorcing your ass. Don't test me. I've done it before and it's not pretty.
Hi Holey! Congrats on the new house.
Chevy, is not a good thing to have a screw loose in your ass. People will talk. Thanks for the firemen. The one on the left asked about you while I was making a date with Zach (he's the one in the middle). He was pretty interested in the screw you have loose.
Phyllis

Had a feeling that picture would wake you up
-
There is no YMCA close to me- Boo! I have some great parks and beaches around so I am looking forward to walking again. I can eat food with garlic again yay! It tasted horrible just a week ago and so now I am loading up on it. Watermelon tastes like watermelon again. Bah I am going to gain another ten pounds just taste testing stuff..
-
Did she say "advamced age"????? WTH?????? Phyllitramp, did you see THAT? See? Those gals got my number.... like we all do yours, and 1/2 the state of California! Okay.... glad you approved of the ....um........ MEN! HAh!
I just called the surgeon's office.... See, I need more opinions, besides yours, evidently! And HE.... (with that deep fireman's voice) said I'll come see you in 20 minutes......
No.... he said this muscle strain could last maybe 6 weeks! I said "Oh NO SIR.... MISTER!" He said again, I'll be there in 20 minutes.....
So HE said take those oxycodone only every 6 damn hours, with a 325mg Tylenol, but to take another Tylenol in between times..... So I'll try and not be so impatient.... but DAMN it hurts when those pills wear off. We didn't even go to Walmart today....! And probably not tomorrow either.... When I take those pills, I just sit in the recliner with the heat and go to sleep... But then I wake up and it still hurts!
Zach told ME to tell YOU that he will be here in 20 minutes.....So THERE! Besides.... pertaining to the screw.... There are a COUPLE you know... But THEY think that isn't the problem.... just all the dancing....etc. and etc..... and so forth.... Geez, I'm not making any sense.....
-
Advanced age??? Advance means to move forward. I'm at a standstill!
That Zach gets around. Glad there are no fires here today! He was here but now I need a nap so I sent him to you. He's worth it!!! BTW, if you have screws loose in your butt, will your ass fall off? You won't be allowed to pole dance without an ass. Just sayin'
-
....must be the oxycodone. Is elderly more politically correct than advanced age? This is what I have in mind when I think of "advanced age people" :
-
Hah! Loverly, either one is probably good... Phylotramp said "stand-still".... Yeah, me too.... We WISH! I don't feel like I'm 78... but man, I FEEL it! My Daughter in Florida once gave me a key-ring thing... It said "How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you were?" And I would like to be probably YOUNGER...Ha! Maybe like 50.... That was good.... It's ALL good if you FEEL alright!
Okay Phylowhatever..... I'm tired now.... sending Zach back to you......... LOVE you guys! xoxo
-
Hope you have a better day tomorrow. Good rest. No painting for awhile. Big hug
-
Phyllis, you in Nebraska, right? I'm going to be in Omaha the end of the month. You near?
Hi all, anybody hear from Patty?
Glad some of you having better days
-
Firemen: I admit nothing. It's not my fault I live two blocks from the fire station.
Age: I wish doctors would make up their minds about that.
-
age is mind over matter. If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
-
omg smarty I love those quilts
Chevy me too I am in. Tell me when I ll burn my place and wait for those fireman lol
Jazz lucky you got to see and dance lol
Hope every body is well tonight
I just came back from my walk along the lake with my poles lol
-
