Waiting too long?

I found a lump in my breast twelve weeks ago(about July 1). Biopsy showed cancer. I was supposed to have surgery this week but the pre-op chest x-ray showed pneumonia. Was put on antibiotics for two weeks and was told they would have to wait six weeks after the pneumonia was gone to do the surgery. Another snafu: the antibiotic doesn't seem to be working. Still have symptoms and they're getting worse. They're going to try another antibiotic. That means it will be the end of October/beginning of November before I have surgery. If the new antibiotic works. I am diabetic and we often get rare types of pneumoia that take a long time to cure. Can patients survive a wait time this long? I know there are medical standards for thngs like this, and for good reason, and that hospitals and doctors are worried about malpractice suits but shouldn't somebody be doing something? I feel my life is being waited away.

I'm sure they want you to be completely healed before putting your body through major surgery and if you weren't, many more issues could come up. My cancer was grade 3 which means it was fast growing and aggressive. If you have grades 1 or 2, they don't grow as fast and there's plenty of time to make sure you've healed. Regardlessof the cancer grade, especially with the issues you have right now (antibiotics not working and diabetes,) it's in your best interest to get that taken care of before your body takes on even more. Hang in there!

    Hi EbonyEyes:

I am sorry to hear you have this to deal with now. Did they do any lab tests to confirm the pneumonia diagnosis? If not, and if such tests are available, they may or may not be indicated in a specific case, but it is one thing to ask about.

Sending healing energies and good vibes for the new antibiotic to work.
