Anxiety of waiting for biopsy results
Hi All,
I'm a 36 year old mom of two and 5 weeks pregnant with my third. I recently found a new lump on my right breast in the lower center part it almost feels as though it's on my rib bone. My doctor ordered an ultrasound, which came back indeterminate so a core biopsy was done on Friday. I am worrying myself sick. I had a mammogram and ultrasound done 3 months ago that came back with 1 Fibroadenoma on the left and had to do a follow up in 6 months. They asked if I had been injured in the area, which I haven't that I recall. So now after my dear friend Google I'm petrified as it talks about fat necrosis mimicking BC.
I'm fearing the worst and trying not to, but is it so hard. Just had to let some of this out. My results should be in in a week - not sure how to get through it!

Shannak. Hi there. You have come to the right place. There is a wealth of information on this site. I know the waiting is hard. Try to keep busy. Im sure that is easy with 2 young children and one on the way! Fat necrosis is always benign however they always do a biopsy to make sure thats what it is. I would think that being pregnant would put you at a higher risk for having fat necrosis. You can always call your doc to ask more questions while you are waiting. Good luck to you.

Thank you so much for your kind words dtad! The waiting and not knowing is definitely proving to be the most trying
Yes, the kiddos are an easy way I stay distracted - no doubt about that

I also had a biopsy on Friday. I have a fibroadenoma in my left breast. The mass that was biopsied is another mass in the same breast. I am expecting it to be another fibroadenoma, based on the sonogram/mammogram report I got, since it has the exact same characteristics of my known FAM. However, I am still worrying quite a bit.
Perhaps yours is a FAM as well, since you already have one in the other breast. And I think "indeterminate" just means they do not know for sure. The only way they can know that, I guess, is by doing a biopsy.
Did you get a report after your sonogram?

I'm praying for that C4indy!! I did not receive a report afterwards, but never have after any of my ultrasounds? They only told me that it's indeterminate and non vascular. The part that worries me is them thinking it may be fat necrosis, as everything I read says that mimics cancer. I know I should just stop googling - it's most definitely not helping!
Sending good vibes for your results!! It sounds like chances are it will be B-9
-
I could be wrong, but I think non-vascular is a good thing. Maybe someone else who knows more will chime in.

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to provide an update. My results came back and it's B-9! Another fibroadenoma. Such a sigh of relief and lots of happy tears.
Wishing everyone positive vibes xx

B9? Loud cheers all around! (also more than a few sighs of relief and dabbing away a tear)

I got the results today from my biopsy done last Tuesday. My diagnosis is Ducal Carcinoma In-Situ (DCIS), grade 2 solid type with central necrosis. I am now scheduled for an MRI on the 24th and also scheduled to see a surgeon October 2. From what I hear it was caught at an early stage and is treatable I am still in shock but ready to do whatever is necessary to get rid of this disease. I pray for everyone else waiting on their test results. I know how hard it was not knowing and hope for the best for all of you.

MamaFoye: take a deep breath--we're here with you. (your diagnosis sounds similar to mine though I'd have to check my pathology reports from surgery. I can't remember what it said about necrosis.)
-
Mama: Sorry to hear about DCIS diagnosis but glad schedule is moving ahead...It's just better to be out of limbo, isn't it? Hope things go smoothly and will look forward to hearing.
