Janie, I will say a coupla prayers for ya and I will be thinking of you tomorrow. It will be smooth sailing; until the pain meds. wear off. Sex, whats that? I have heard hubby mention that before but I think it has something to do with sports, I forget. I don't pay attention to him much so I never know what he is talking about. You check in when your up and about and we will keep the light on for ya. Try not to worry. Don't ya hate the way ya feel so cold when they wake you up the first time? They always tell me I shake real bad while in recovery, yea, I am freezing no doubt. Hugs, Mary
-
Janie, boy, you sound like you're gonna have lots of fun over the next few weeks. Sleeping elevated? That'd be a tough one. I hope that doesn't mean you have to levitate or something.
I'm glad the doc thinks things will go more quickly. We'll be looking forward to hearing from you.
Hey to Mary and Nancy Lee. Hope you guys are having a good one. Knowing you guys, you're bustling around doing something. Me? I'm going to bed.
Hugs, Janie,
Paula -
Hi all
I am doing fine. The surgery went well. I do have two drains. I hope to lose them Monday when I see the doctor. I was pretty much sedated yesterday. The boys have been good nurses. Talk with you later. -
Hi Janie,
Well, i see my reply yesterday somehow didn't make it. Drag about the drains, but you'll soon be rid of them. Hope you're feeling well otherwise. Another thing behind you.
Later girls,
Paula -
good morning!
HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL. I PREVIOUSLY SIGNED UP FOR AN ONLINE WORKSHOP THAT IS INTERACTIVE AND GETTING READY TO DO IT IN ABOUT AN HOUR. I AM CERTIFIED AND LICENSED WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO GET A LOT OF CONTINUING ED HOURS. MY LICENSE RENEWS IN DECEMBER AND MY CERTIFICATE IN JULY. I DIDN'T DO AS MUCH DURING TREATMENT SO NOW I AM BUSY TRYING TO FIT ALL THIS STUFF IN.
I FEEL PRETTY GOOD. THEY ALSO REMOVED A LESION FROM MY FACE AND I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BLACK EYE. MY PAIN IS MOSTLY FROM THE DRAINS NOW -- LIKE TWO BIG SPLINTERS. I DO HOPE THEY REMOVE THEM. THERE IS STILL QUITE A BIT OF DRAINAGE THOUGH AND THAT MAKES ME LEARY. I REMEMBER THE LAST TIME WHEN IT DRAGGED ON FOREVER.
HOW ARE YOU GUYS? THE WEATHER IS PLEASANT HERE. -
Hey Girls, just stopped in to say Hi. Glad your back Janie. P.J. I have that trouble sometimes too with post. Hubby is on his way to Texas(Waco). I really wanted to go but waiting on blood work for Thyroid meds. I only have 4 days of meds left. I am also waiting on MRI. He will be in Texas for a while no doubt because he runs down there a lot. I will go next trip for sure. I am getting him some apts. too. The Neurologist wants another Dr. to see if any surgery is possible for hubby on the 2 buldging disc in his neck and the tears in his tendons. Poor hubby is in a lot of pain today and the WI. cold air probably made it worse. I hope it is warm in Texas so maybe it will ease up. He should be in Texas Mon. Gotta go, grandkids satyed lastnight. Mary
-
Hey Janie, you're doing a class with drains in. I wonder if that's a first. You should get bonus points. Honestly, with both my surgeries, the drains were the worst part of the thing. I hope you do get yours out Monday.
Mary, I can't believe your husband's gonna be right here in Waco. How does he drive all day with all that neck mess going on? Poor guy.
Not much up here this weekend. If I'm good, I'll do some raking. It's very nice. Fall is finally here. High is supposed to be around 70. (Fall for us) Next weekend, going to Austin to hear Barack Obama. Got a great priceline deal on a 4-star hotel (100 bucks) 4 blocks from where the book festival will be. Also hope to get a couple kids' books signed by co-author Ridley Pearson.
Nancy, are you having a blizzard or anything?
TTYL,
Paula -
GOOD AFTERNOON
MARY THAT CONSTANT BUMPING AROUND IN A TRUCK HAS TO HURT YOUR DH WITH ALL HIS PROBLEMS. HOPE YOUR RESULTS COME BACK WITH GOOD NEWS.
PJ, IT SOUNDS LIKE OUR WEATHER IS ABOUT THE SAME. YOUR PLANS SOUND EXCITING FOR NEXT WEEKEND.
NANCYLEE, HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL.
I AM WATCHING THE TN/BAMA GAME. OUR QUARTERBACK MADE A TACKLE(SORT OF...ANYWAY HE STOPPED HIM) A WHILE AGO.
LATER GIRLS -
Good Monday, Janie. Hope you're feeling well and will be drainless soon.
Nancy? You there? Haven't heard from you for awhile.
Mary, are you just freezing up there?
Paula -
Good news!
The tissue came back cancer free. My drains are gone. They say the boob job looks good and all is right with the world. Catch you all later. -
Hey, Good news Janie. P.J. it was 19 with wind chill at 7 a.m. Hubby is on the road to WI. again. He has been teasing me about how cold he was in Texas, it all is comming back on him now....It did get up to maybe 50 today. Well I have some things to do so I will be back later. Hugs, and glad all is well with the boob job Janie. Mary
-
Good news, Janie! Enjoy your new look! I'm too chicken to get it done....
Mary, well, it was indeed cold here (not as cold as up there, of course) but it warmed up to 70 something, so all's good. It was fun to get to wear a jacket.
Paula -
Hey,
Thanks girls. PJ, it is not so bad. When they did my lumpectomy, they knew they would be going back in later to repair whatever damage rads did so they just sewed me up and extra tissue came to a point under each arm, and that has been very uncomfortable, like two big ol balls under each arm. Rads caused 3 large dipples in the nipple. So all that has been repaired and he even made them symmetrical...I could not tell that one was higher than the other....but anyway now they a a perfect match and even with the mild pain, I feel much better without the extra tissue. -
Hey Girls, Well I got my MRI report on my neck and the spine is fine, oh hey that rymes. However there is a mass in my neck, but it could be my thyroid swollen. Now I did not do contrast and boy do they like to make you feel like a scared fool because you have an allergy to dyes ..... Crap on them! O.K. Nurse Pract. said it could be cancer and I didn't like that word so I called Onky and saw him 2 hours later and he said he thinks it is thyroid and got me into a throat guy and he can sono it and biopsy it right in the office if nessary. I go the 2nd. of Nov. I told him I have had throat trouble for 3 months now but no one is listening. My Onky said I could get the contrast and I should be alright. I guess I will next time. The MRI kinda scared me for a while, until I ran over to my Dr.'s office and got the report and it said mass could be thyroid. (I said well no crap.) It could be cancer of the thy. but thats easily treated so I am not worried about that. Hopefully it is my thyroid just swelled but what ever it is, it can't be any worse than what I have endured so far. I did get a little nerve rush there for a minute. It's not like we can trust our bodies anymore. Well hope you are getting along great Janie and P.J. have you got those lights in your kit. yet? Hi to Nancy and Rene wherever they may be. Nighty night, Mary
-
Mary, my vote is swollen thyroid. If it was me, it would probably be that i just had a giant cookie stuck in my throat or something, as much sweets as i've been eating these days.
My bro-in-law had thyroid cancer and outside of having to take synthroid all the time, it seems to be gone and a memory.
I did get the lights in, so now, just have window coverings and the kitchen is done. It's very nice. Also go a new microwave (so naturally i burned the hell out of bacon this morning).
Janie, hope you're well and things are healing nicely. Nancy's been absent for awhile. Hope all is well.
TTYL,
Paula -
Mary, I hope everything turns out well. You deserve a break from medical and otherwise life stress. Will be thinking of you.
PJ, Thanks. I am doing better everyday. Went to Atlanta and it is very rainy. That traffic is enough to drive the insane sane, especially when there are inclimate conditions. Good to be back safe and warm at home. I am wondering about Nancy too. I do not recall that she was leaving town or anything. Have a good weekend. The holidays are just around the corner. -
NancyLee,
I saw on the Inspirational thread that you have been having a rough time lately. I hope you are over the pneumonia and everything starts improving and you return to your cheerful self soon. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Hugs............. -
Good morning girls, I have to go to MIL's so we can hash out our aches and pains and beach about how we hurt in the rainy cold weather. The Dr. said her tumors are staying the same (not growing) so she could live another year or two. Franlky, she wants to die. She says she has wanted to for a while because she hurts from back trouble, a little drama there but if I were in her shoes who knows. She has always liked attention but thats just her, ya gotta love her. Janie it sounds like you are doing darn good girlfriend. I am glad. Hey, I didn't like that rain and fog around Atlanta (at night) either. I cruised over to the insp. thread and read Nancy's note. Hope she is getting along. P.J. I burnt popcorn in my micro and I scrubbed the heck out of it and you could smell burnt popcorn for a month every time I used it. Well hubby is going through Springfield today so I will drive up and see him for a half hour I guess. Then I can shop a little. I am working on X-mas already. I hate having to drive the 28 miles to Springfield when the snows blowing. There is not much here in my town except Wally. Well I better get to MIL's. This throat is driving me nuts, it feels like I have a ball in it. Have a great wk. end and stay warm....Mary
-
Hey Mary, Did you watch your Cardinals last night? I was happy for them. They were so excited and happy to win the series. Did you see hubby as planned? I have known several elderly people who wanted "to travel on" or have said something similar. However, my Mom was in severe pain for many years and hung on and cherished life until the very end; however, she never seemed to get excited or scared when experiencing life threatening crises. I guess PJ is at the political talk. Stay warm and enjoy your time with Tool Man.
-
Hey Janie, Yea I watched the Cards. I grew up with a Card. fan dad and went to many a games. Hubby likes the Cubs, hehehe. I think there are more Cards fans in Il. than Cubby fans. My Mom was the same way as yours, she fought for 14 months and that was 8 months longer than they gave her. MIL wasn't exactly Mom of the year so she has to be a little lonely now because you get what you give. My Mom never got scared either or she hid it really well because she didn't want to upset her kids. God I miss her. Hubby is doing good as his pain was a little better. He is in La. and it is warm there and it has been warm here too. I took the grandkids(2) to the halloween parade Sat. eve and we got tons of candy. People dress up and walk around the square and they give prizes like $100.00 for 1st. etc. My mom always made my kids costumes and they won first place in different catagories for like 6 years. I don't sew, I can, I don't like it. My God I just remembered I have a ton of ironing to do. I have been forgetting for 3 months. Its probably nice clothes I like to wear too but have forgotten I have them. Well I better get. P.J. will enjoy Obama as he has charisma. He seems to understand the working class people and less fortunate. It may be talk but it sounds good. I better get. Hi to all. Gosh, just got a call that my other friend, the one with lung cancer died tonight. She was in her 40's. Mary
-
Mary, very sorry to hear about your friend. That's way too young. How very sad. So many good people...
Well, I didn't get out of bed early enough Saturday to get a wristband to get in to see Obama speak OR to get a book signed. I did get to see the children's author (actually, it's Ridley Pearson, he also writes adult crime books, which I've also read) that Nathan wanted to see. He wrote a couple Peter Pan prequels with Dave Barry and they're very amusing. Anyway, he came up and talked to Nathan and then we ended up walking to the booksigning tent with him. He wrote some very cool stuff in the books.
So then we were walking back to our car, which was parked far away, and I looked in this little side street area and saw probably 30 people. Walked in just to see what was up, and there was Obama. He'd just finished up the signing. So we stood there and he worked the line of people, shaking hands and such. So, we met him briefly. He stopped a sec when he saw Nathan and said "Thanks for coming". Very cool.
Had a great weekend. Hope you all did, too. Mary, the parade sounds like a blast. Janie, this is prime weather time in our parts of the world. I'm loving it.
Hope Nancy's doing better.
Paula -
Hey girls, I got this email from Nancy. I'd emailed her last week to see how she was doing.
Hi back Paula--Thanks--I have a bug--my immune system is so messed up by the
chemo that it looks like I'll never be able to do all the things I used to
do out in public where I seem to pick up every little thing that is going
around so easily that it isn't funny. It started with the pinkeye thing and
then I got pneumonia and it progressed into a real struggle to breathe. I
had asthma before the chemo and now it's 100 times worse. I just haven't
felt like even going on-line much less logging on to the bc site--sorry. I
checked my e-mail today for the first time in forever and saw your letter.
Tell everyone HI and I'll get it all back together soon and go back to
boards. My sister-in-law posted on the prayer thread for me because I asked
her to do it. I told her to just say I was going through a rough spell.
Thanks again and I'll be back soon. NancyLee -
Hope Nancy is feeling better real soon. I know how she must feel, I seem to keep picking up one thing after another and it gets a little nerve racking. I saw my reg. Dr. today finally. She called and I went and she did an x-ray to check for lung tumors and it was clear. She thinks my thyroid is just sluggissh and upped my med. I get a swallow test and sono. on thyroid in Nov. so if she finds anything out of the ordinary then she will send me to a spec. so I feel better. She said it can take a while for the meds to build up and make me better so I am happy, for now. This swallow test, they put a little scope down your nose to record your throat. I don't like the sound of that....I guess she wants to make sure there was no damage from rads. I think it is just the thyroid. It seems to be better already and I only took one of my higher pills. well, I don't get many trick or treaters here. I had 4. The other place I went through about 10 bags of candy in 2 nights and that was the big bags. I am on the outskirts of town now though. It is a lot of older people in my little neighborhood. I think there are 2 kids in my little area. I am saving money....I will have to eat the left over though. I bought chocolate, I thought ahead.... Have a goulish night girls, Scary Mary
-
OK, girls, this is my 3rd Halloween spent with you guys. We had a good night. It was cool (not like those miserable 80 degree trick or treat tromps) and only took about an hour.
Hope you guys had a good one.
Mary, glad to hear the xray was clear. The swallow test sounds like torture! But glad you're feeling better on the new dose of medicine.
TTYL,
Paula -
BOOO!!!
Good news Mary. You must be relieved. I had about 12 goblins. Not many. Unfortunately I bought candy that I like. I should have known better. I am going to take it to work and put it out for whoever wants it. If I leave it here, I WILL eat it.
Had a good day. Stronger all the time. Back into the routine at work.
Paula, do you get SO tired of the lymphedema regimen and sleeve? I hope that new laser technique that was recently approved hurries up and finds it;s way into more places in the U.S.
Nancy, thinking of you.
j -
Oh, Janie, I'm so bad. I hardly ever wear my sleeve (tho I will wear it more now that it's cooling off). I do the massage sometimes. But I don't wear my sleeve more than about once a week. I'm probably asking for trouble, but....
Another cool day today. It's a nice break. Unfortunately, something's up with my 14-year-old truck that I hope won't cost me an arm and a leg. Or strand me somewhere....
Hey, Mary, hope you're feeling better. How's that med working?
Paula -
Hey Girls, I pulled something in my back and have been in bed. It is getting better. Hope everyone is fine. I will be back later. Mary
-
Hi--I'm thankful for Stephen King. I was sitting on the pot just now having my nightly constitutional and reading SK's book, "The Cell". Out of the corner of my eye, I saw this huge hairy spider come trotting out from under my scale. Well, I couldn't get up at the moment and stomp on him so I threw the book down with a huge thump. My dog was outside the bathroom window and he jumped up and started barking at the noise. I got the giggles because I live all alone so I left the bathroom door open and I pictured someone walking in on this lovely scene!!!!! Good thing I live way out in the country and never have company, huh??? Anyhow, I'm feeling better. Thanks for all your good thoughts in my absence. Get better, Mary. Life is Good-- Smiles NancyLee
-
Welcome back NancyLee. Good to hear from you. I have lived alone for several years. It does have its advantages.
Mary, Mary, what next? You are a bundle of aches and pains lately. Get better soon.
PJ. I am not wearing my sleeve or wrap right now...watching the arm swell as we speak. The therapist told me not to go without it even to have a cup of coffee. I took a shower and haven't fooled with it yet today. Why can't they inject more lymph nodes or something to compensate for those we lost.
later gators,
janie -
Glad your back Nancy, Hope you are much better. Everyone have a great wk. end. Mary
