Waiting on my newest test results
hi everyone. Went today for a diagnostic compression mammagrame and a ultra sound after getting a call back for my yearly mammagrame visit. I tried asking questions like if they could tell me what my birads are etc. The only thing that they could tell me were that they are two areas of concern and that's why extra test were ordered. Now I have to wait till next week when my doctor is in to get the test finial results. It's weird because usually they told me right away that everything was ok are not but this time wouldn't go into much information but I am at a new place also guess every place is different. Anyone else had these test done and how long before you got your results back? Thank you for listening. Deannie

deannie, sorry you have to go through this. I flat out asked the radiologist what his opinion was based on the DX mammo and U/S....he told me 50/50, but the look on his face told me it was more like 90/10! You have a right to get a copy of the report from the radiologist, regardless. The radiologist recommended a biopsy, so I went to a breast surgeon for that, a week or so later. A biopsy is the only definitive way to tell if it is malignant or benign. From the biopsy, it took me a couple of days to get results. I hope that helps. Hang in there. Best wishes for good results!

Thank you kindly keepthefait it's just hard not knowing anything. But I'm trying my best not to worry but like you stated with your radiologist etc the look on the nurses face especially the one doing the ultra sound was very serious look that's when I tried to ask her questions. I should have pushed more for answers but I'm not one to push for information but I wish I had of now. Wishing you the best sweetie. Deannie

Hi Deannie:
Usually, the person performing the ultrasound is a technician. In the USA at least, they are not supposed to discuss what they are seeing, because they are not radiologists. They are trained to have a poker face, as it were, and will not discuss it. They are trying to get good and thorough data, so most wear a look of intense concentration. It does not mean anything. So you can at least stop worrying about not having pushed more.

Thank you yes I am sure that you are right. Guess I am just over thinking things right now. Deannie

Hi Deannie:
My mind did the exact same thing. It just kept reviewing everything and remembering new things and looking for clues, and would not stop cycling and worrying. I think your mind just cannot stand not knowing and wondering, because it is aware that the missing information is so important to your well-being.

Hi BarredOwl. Got a new letter to call my doctor office because even more test are needed. The letter says that there is a area of concern and more test are needed to call my doctor office for more information. I called and he wants me to come in on the 22 to go over what the test results says and to discuss what needs to be done with the other test needed. I am assuming they are wanting a Mri done are a biopsy but not sure. Still waiting to know more and yes the waiting and not knowing is tuff at times. Thank you for listening to me vent yet again. Deannie
