Hurry up And WAIT!
I am a newbie, and have been stalking the boards over the past week... I'm 43, no history of cancer in family, and went for yearly last week... GYN found a cyst, and sent me for diagnostic mammo, and ultrasound, Tuesday... They told me it was a 2.2 gm solid mass, that was. Highly suspicious, with a BiRad of 5. Had core Bx yesterday, and dr. Told me basically it was BC...no lymph nodes they could see. He was very optimistic!
Just got results (they are amazingly fast) and its Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. Has to come out bc of high risk for CA.
The nurse navigator explained, that both physicians are still highly suspicious that this is cancer...
My concern is... They do this ALL DAY EVERYDAY... Could the bx be wrong? They said there may have not got enough tissue retrieved in the bx (he took 5 samples) but when she discussed with doctor, again, he was very adamant, but was hopeful he was wrong?
What to do... What to do...

I had a BiRads 5 rating, and my surgeon said 95% of them contain cancer. I told her cut it out, and it was IDC mixed with DCIS. I'm sure others will post soon, but I wanted it out and didn't want to take any chances. I went straight to an excisional biopsy, which was classified as a lumpectomy and did not go the biopsy route. Sometimes the cancer component can be very small, just a few millimeters, and can get missed.
Gentle hugs, and best of luck whatever you decide.

just another thought, did you or can you get an MRI? Before surgery, my surgeon got me a quick MRI, and it definitely showed the cancerous area. She said it showed her exactly what tissue to take out. And it was spot on, identified 1.3 cm area, and that is the size my IDC was. I don't think an MRI works for small tumors, like under .5 cm

Italychick... Thank you for replying...I appreciate it so much. I honestly now know, we are all in this together. And our journey will definitely help someone else. So thank you so much.!So did you have a bx? Or go straight to the MRI? Bc they didn't give me that option... My option was a core needle bx
I meet with breast surgeon Wednesday...maybe she will request the MRI? I had accepted the fact I had Breast cancer after the bx, and then to get the call that puts u in the "well it may not be, but we are very suspicious that it is" category, sent me back into the emotional roller coaster. I know I'm not alone on that ride so I try not to get to deep in my worry.
Is the bx "false negative" rate high..? Tge nurse navigator explained they may not have pulled the "cancer cells" basically... So I'm just so torn, want to be excited, but so fearful of getting mine (and my husband and childrens) hopes up again... This so affects EVERYONE! It's not just my diagnosis. Waiting STINKS...
Again I appreciate u!

So very sorry, lumpectomy a month ago , supposed to be followed by radiation. Now they're talking chemo. Terrified. Have decided it is not for me. Have found many alternatives with very little side affects. Lots are natural. Ever consider not letting them bombard your body with such lethal chemicals?? I for one refuse to be a lemming and let them call the shots!! Our bodies , our lives!! I beg of you do more research. Cancer makes millions of dollars!!! Really looking for a cure??? Be informed!!! You have options. Prayers🙏🙏

Please, I beg of you. Follow your heart and your instincts. You have choices. These treatments are horrible. They're poison. Read all you can on alternative cures. Cancer is big money, bear it in mind .Best of luck. Prayers

Or do as your medical team suggests, if you agree.

mykindaLoco sorry, for some reason I never saw your post. Where are you at in the testing and biopsy process?
-
Dear Clarasophia - This is a very delicate issue. If you do not agree with the type of treatment being discussed here, we kindly ask you to move forward to another forum where you feel more confortable discussing about alternative treatments in a civil, judgement-free manner. There is a specific forum for that in the BC.org community, here: Alternative Medicine
Thank you for your cooperation.
