you guys, my hip hurts. Now, it hurts in exactly the same way it hurt befor cancer, kind of a constant pain relieved by excercise...more of a tight tendon feeling in the groin and a knot where the bones twist in my sacrum. It's been going on since basically the end of chemo when I started exercising hard. Chiropractic helps, but he yanked my leg two weeks ago and agvrated the groin tendon. Standing helps, sitting hurts. Lately since I started rads I'm fatigued quite a bit. You know where this is going right? Wondering if the beast somehow avoided all traps set for it and moved into my hip area. Of course, since I'm an emotional cutter, I've been reading all the worst case scenario info on here and I think k tonight I finally drove myself around the bend. Doesn't help I feel a bit like I'm getting a cold. So now I sitting here wondering if any of this was worth it. You know, to the point of wondering if I've stockpiled enough ambien and pain pills, if and when it comes to that. Because I'll be damned if I let my family watch me die horribly while they suffer. Sorry. I guess what I'm looking for is either a pat on the head or a kick in the ass.
-
No. It is a pulled or strained something. Can you call your chiropractor in the morning?
-
Littleblue, are you working with a physical therapist? If not, maybe your MO or RO can prescribe it. Even though you were pretty active during chemo, you're probably 'tighter' than before...if you had the same feeling in the past that was relieved by exercise, now its just extra tight. Chiropractor could have irritated something. Maybe a PT could get it loosened up for you. Is it your hip flexor? One of those fun old-lady conditions we are too young to get...like sciatica or bursitis?
By the way - 100% understandable where your head is at right now. We will all be there someday. It's hard to know what to do when every ache and pain leads to fear. I do know that you will feel better getting it checked out.
-
littleblue I am here to kick you in the ass. Don't go there unless it happens. Remember, statistically they believe 70% of women are okay with just surgery, and you have thrown a lot at this beast. Look at today and tomorrow, and the future will be what it is. You are a fighter and you inspire me with all your exercise.
Love you though!
-
zactly, Jen !
-
Jen, It is by far most likely related to physical activity, but if it does not improve, get it checked so you know exactly what it is and can address it with antiinflammatory drugs, PT, etc
-
oh blue I feel your pain. Seriously I do. Except it isn't in my hip. It's in my back. I've always had a bad back and the chemo and tissue expanders have just made it worse. Once I get these TE out I can finally see the chiropractor again.
Today I have my first post chemo follow up and also a pre opt for my surgery on the 16th.
-
Addie love the breasties cartoon! Hope you are enjoying a quiet house after sending kids back today!
Littleblue definitely talk to Dr and get some physical therapy. Some of you are so very athletic and it has to be just very frustrating. You are in such great shape. I'm frustrated just how mymuscles feel after a brief workout and still numb on ball of my right foot.
Anyone else have a Polly's ponytail? Karen I was thinking you did? I just got mine this weekend. Way, way too long and just debating do I cut it myself or get it cut? Has anyone cut theirs? I doubt something I will wear often.
-
Littleblue - I'm going to guess IT Band irritation or tightness? I have that (always did) and tightness there will also make your lower back hurt - please call dr and do some stretching that out! Foam roller if you have one?
Went away for a lake weekend so I'm just catching up - this is my "1 week PFC" week! Got my herceptin only infusion this am - they were really overloaded getting all the patients in that missed yesterday.
Have a great monday everyone!
-
I cut my ponytail myself. I trimmed it a few times
-
Thanks you guys! For the head pats and the ass kicks. Its pain in the exact same spots as it always hurt before cancer, its just lasting longer. Wondering if Chemo made our tendons and such extra stiff and inflamed? I even told myself to map it, because eventually my crazy mind would get around to thinking "mets". And, last night, it finally did get around to thinking that, and I couldn't shake it, to the point of bringing on a panic attack. I was even working with a PT before radiation started, on the exact same issue. And that was during chemo. And I will be going back. That side has always been messed up since a horse fell on my when I was 17. I know all this, but I'm documenting it here to talk myself down. Addie, I have always had a bad back too. Ok, thanks for the hand up out of the hole. I'm going to be re-reading your posts as my life-line a bunch today I think! You guys are absolutely the best!
-
I've been having leg pain, it started 2 weeks ago and feels more like nerve pain more then muscle or ligament. Hoping it doesn't last long and would love to blame it on the Taxol. Praying it's not from the 15 lbs I've put on through this. I use to be really cautious what I ate before the cancer. Then during chemo I followed my oc saying if you can get it in your mouth...just eat it. Now... hell I just REALLY love cake! And I hate to exercise. I've been lucky so far my life that I've stayed relatively small. Now my butt...... is..... let's just say.. baby got back! Ug.
Littleblue... my mind goes the same way.. every ache and pain my mind runs. With only getting Herceptin now... I'm nervous as well. At least when I was getting chemo I was activity doing something to fight it. Now it's up to my body to be good. I hope it learned a lesson.
I have a few appointments over the next few weeks. My yearly exam, heart scan to make sure the Herceptin hasn't damaged it, surgeon 6 month recheck, mammogram, another dose of Herceptin...etc. man life was boring (and wonderful) before all this cancer crap.
Side note.. anyone know if my mammogram is half price since I'm now a uni and they can only squish one side? (Just kidding)
Any experience with a 3D mammogram? My medical center now offers it...

ugh I'm trying to accept the fact I will never have good sex again at the age of 30 so very depressing
tried again tonight and all though we were able to do other things that do the job (sorry if it'sTMI lol) good old fashion sex just hurts ..once again I miss my old life
-
Steph- right there with ya sister, and I effing refuse to give up my sex life. I don't care how long it takes or what we have to do or what amazon has to sell me. Cancer can't have that! Actually, my boobs and my sanity are all I'm willing to give the beast. It can not have sex too! There has to be an answer out there. We just gotta find it and not give up. So sorry you are dealing with this too! It blows!
-
Also, proof God has a sense of humor- I had to pluck my eyebrows today. Hair on my head, not so much...
-
littleblue, I hope you're feeling better today. Taxol has done a number on my muscles and joints, I have horrible muscle tightness and pain starting day 4, and walk around like a stick woman for about 3 days. With your activity level and previous injury..then add to that whatever crappy effect Taxol may have had.... are likely whats going on. Once you get it checked out you'll feel better. Its so hard to not let our thoughts go to those places.... I am currently fixated on what havoc chemo may be wreaking on my heart and kidneys.
mamajen: I had a 3D mamo during my diagnosis testing...I didn't notice anything different as far as the procedure itself, but my insurance didn't cover the full cost since it wasn't the standard...... I had about $100 out of pocket if I remember right. My schedule sounds kinda like yours...MO this Friday, the BS for 6 mo checkup Monday..... Tuesday I have an appt with my family Dr for a checkup, then chemo on the same day. I also have to get with MO to schedule my next heart scan, its time for that too.
I had Taxol #8 yesterday....4 more to go. The neuropathy has improved. My cousin is into essential oils and made me up some cream for it, I think its helping...it hasn't gotten worse, thank God!
-
so funny little blue I'm the opposite my hair on my head is growing like crazy but all of the sudden my eyebrows and eyelashes want to fall out!
-
Sigh...my brows and lashes are still gone. The 4 brow hairs that grew in fell back out. If they are still gone in a few months, I will have to look into tattoos. Stupid cancer. If I end up with areola tattoos, rads tattoos, brows tattoos, you can bet money that I will stick it to cancer and get a tattoo somewhere of MY choosing.
-
on the topic of sex- me a a hubby have only been able to do it I think 4 times since chemo. Poor guy- BUT he completely understands thank goodness. Met with the MO yesterday- it was so bittersweet actually. I love my MO and my treatment nurses. They each gave me such a huge hug. They are amazing people. My MO pretty much said now we just monitor me and if I start having symptoms then I come in but other than that I guess I'm done. I'm going to miss everyone at my cancer center but I certainly won't miss chemo or the cancer! Good riddance don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya! Who else on this page is still going through chemo?
-
Final chemo for me in 5 days!!!
-
just finished my last chemo!!! Now just have to sit around with the cold caps for a few more hours then can be officially done.
-
Addie, did the MO give specifics on what to look for, other than new lumps? Does he want you to follow up with him yearly, etc?
I"ll miss my chemo nurses when the time comes, but even after I finish Taxol, I'll still be going in once a month for Herceptin until next summer...so it'll be awhile.
Dizz, the countdown is on...you're almost there!!
-
Congrats Melb!!! YAY!! So happy for you!!!!!!!!!!
-
Melb, woo hoo!
-
Melb congrats!
DiZZ it will fly by. You will be done before you know it.
actually yes he said to obviously still do monthly breast exams and look for lumps and anything abnormal. I won't need mammograms anymore because I have no more breast tissue.
-
Congrats melb and Karen30! So happy that most of us are finished. Dizz, almost there!
Littleblue, don't let yourself go there! Taxol did some havoc to our bodies.....my calf continues to hurt, and it's always in the same spot. Now I'm getting some weird shooting pain in my back near my kidneys...so, you're not alone!
Susan, I'm jealous of your beautiful head of hair.
Bald, I could handle...but having no brows and lashes is really getting to me. And I know you ladies too. I refuse to pencil them in anymore, cause I end up looking "uncle leo" (Seinfeld). Plus, there's nothing to even fill in.
And I plan on having sex in the next couple of weeks when I feel more like myself. I wonder if Ill ever get my period back? Not that I'm complaining, but should I throw out the tampons?
Going on Friday for my rads SIM. Then deportation on Mon.
-
addie, my nurses were so great throughout. On my last chemo, they threw confetti at me and gave me hugs. I also brought them cookies and a card. They seemed to appreciate it, cause they were all eating them.
-
Gingeel, FWIW even being 53 and having had no period since I went off the pill (taken for hormone regulation) in January, my MO says, "Don't donate the tampons yet! When things settle down, you may get a surprise, and Tamoxifen may start you back up as well." I may donate them to a women's shelter and take my chances with pads and a Diva Cup, anyway.
-
Thinking of all you Chemosabies. I'm in the chair for my 3 week herceptin. Feeling very fortunate my labs are all good. Now if I could just lose the dang 12lbs!!! Dr told me I can use Nioxin for hair regrowth. Anyone have any experience using?
Thanks, kbeee, for ponytail info. I did cut it still not crazy about it but it is better. Hang in there with the eyebrows. I know it is aggravating. Really sorry I overplucked mine in my 20's. Dang things are there but thin.
Melb Congrats!!! Hooray!!!
Back to work for me tomorrow full time. Very thankful I'm going to a different location, different group, and same pay and benefits. Totally new position in patient accounts. Excited to learn new things and just get back to some kind of normal and an income. I will miss medical assisting clinical care but right now this is better for my immune system and recovery. It will be hard for me to read and respond often during the week. Know that I'm praying, thinking of you all and will catch-up with your posts here and Facebook as I can.
Big hugs all!!!
-
Sooooo about my eyelashes.. big fail makeup mistake
